What shape is the primary bearing or race? Has it "walked"? Unless that is no longer a problem. It happened to my 07 in the early days. Primary bearing replaced upon hddude's suggestion and has never failed again. :nixweiss:

Update:
Waited for a week for the Harley Canada Service Rep to contact me.
I called again and he finally returned my call. After basically refusing to do anything after a 30 minute conversation.
I told him that if the bike is not fixed I will be calling CTV's W5 which is a national program that brings to light problems that affect Canadians. They are sort of a consumer watch dog that will investigate issues like this. I basically said that Harley has had a problem with cranks since 2007 and the only thing they have done is continuously increasing tolerances to avoid warranty payments.
I also told him I will be filing a complaint with the Canadian Consumer protection Agency for refusing to do warranty work on a vehicle under warranty. Because I paid the dealer to check the compensator and the crank run out I have the proof that the Harley area rep told the dealership to make sure they put the customer pays for this work on the work order.
His response was he would review the file and get back to me! That was Wed last week and haven't heard from him.

With that being said I took the bike to a dealer near Watertown NY and had a tech listen to it and take it for a ride.
When he started the bike he looked at me and said that doesn't sound good. He also said he could feel the vibration right away before even riding it. He took it for a good ride 15 minutes and when he came back he said his finger and toes were pins and needles.
He said the vibration was definitely not normal and the engine noise was also a concern.
They checked with Harley USA to see if they could do my warranty work and Harley USA said no problem I could get the bike looked at there. So I arranged to drop off the bike and said whenever you can look at it would be fine and let me know what you find.
That was Monday and haven't heard anything yet.
Hopefully they can resolve the problem. It is a bit of a drive 2 hours away from where I live.  Drove it 2 hrs in the sleet, snow and rain to get it there with my wife following to pick me up. :-X

And at today's conference call with analyst, Harley Davidson announced they are increasing their advertising and marketing expenditures by 70 million dollars...  No mention of quality initiatives or customer service.  MOCO stock declined just short of 14% today primarily due to a drop in sales.  Layoffs on the way.  I don't think they've figured it out yet.  Got to love it...

Well GM played the same game as Harley is playing. With a we don't need you we have lots of customers that will continue to buy our products no matter how bad they are and how terrible our service is attitude. We all know what happened to them! they went bankrupt and needed to be bailed out.
I went and looked at a new BMW on the weekend!

Finding a dealer that acknowledged you have an issue is a step in the right direction. I hope they get the bike sorted out to your satisfaction.

The dealer here in Canada that I bought the bike from is willing to pull the cam cover to check the run out and do any work that is needed but the Harley rep won't pay for them to check it. :(

Congrats....on getting someone at HD to admit there is a problem.

Not sure about this...but aren't there some additional warranty concessions when broken down more than 100 miles from home.... :nixweiss:

I know I'm like a broken record about this, with auto industry mindset Harley has, they won't figure it out until they are al most out of business.

Seems like the excitement of owning a new HD doesn't last long these days.

I have been on the edge of a new limited CVO for the last 2 years and then I come back here and read this BS and I gather my senses.

I start to think of the tuners, exhaust, air cleaner, lifters, cams, compensators, that I have spent money on just to make my 09 run and wonder "why in the world" would I buy another.
That is not to mention the warranty items that were fixed.

You don't get much for $40,000.

Wonder why we all keep going back?

Have you heard the saying "you never see a Harley parked in front of the Psychiatrist office"....I think that is because we are too far gone to be helped.

To the OP...
Sorry you are going thru this.

JMO but HD is NOT going to fix it until it blows up!  You have 2 years from the date of purchase to make that happen!

Unbelievable. Is your bike currently at the dealer in NY? If so have you heard anything from them?

Called the NY dealer to see what was up.
They had one tech take it for a drive and he said he couldn't get it to vibrate or rattle like the other tech did?
I said what did you do to it because it has vibrated since day one he said they did nothing to it.
I told him to make sure it's warmed up and hold it at 3100 in any gear you will feel it.
They are going to have the same tech that rode it the first time check it again. :-\

Sounds like someone got to the dealership and convinced them to change their story.

That sounds like bullchit...  What was the purpose of having a second tech test ride it once the first tech noted the problem?  Didn't they trust the first tech?  And why didn't they contact you once they reached this new conclusion?  Why did you have to call them?  I think Jerry and d00d got it right with their assessment...

It's not unreasonable to conclude that the dealership contacted the MOCO after the first tech's conclusion.  The MOCO looked up your previous claim and instructed the dealership to have a second tech ride your bike with a predetermined conclusion...  Smells like that, anyway...
