A half inch nut works wonders at 60 mph on glass or painted surfaces , just keep in shirt pocket and flick it over your shoulder...

...Has anyone else ever wanted to kick someone's car door as you pass them after a close call like this? I really wanted to,but, I didn't.

All the time.  All the time.

I've been working too much lately to be able to take road trips. But, occassionally I get a chance to ride to the job site. (100 mile round trip) Saturday before last, I'm cruising down the interstate about 85 MPH with the cruise control set. A slower moving vehicle is in the right lane and decided to take my lane just about the time the front fender of the bike was even with the rear bumper of his car. He was talking on the cell phone. To say it made me mad would be an understatement. Homie doesn't like playing bumper cars while on two wheels. The idiot had moved over to the left lane to pass another slow vehicle. I went to the right lane, dropped two gears and passed him on the right, letting him know he's number one in my book. I passed the car he was trying to pass before he did.

Has anyone else ever wanted to kick someone's car door as you pass them after a close call like this? I really wanted to,but, I didn't.

Stupid dumba$$ed cager.

I used to kick car doors when I was a young whippersnapper.  Certain satisfaction in that, plus usually even more satisfied after I did not knock myself off the damn bike kicking some a-hole's car door.

Saw Skippys response with the 1/2" nuts - excellent idea and I have lots more of those than the ball bearings 'somebody' has been known to carry for certain reasons at certain times.  The ball bearings would bounce better IMHO but the nuts are of interest.......

I am most fortunate to have a great dealer that cares - at this point in time.  It changes sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Remember reading one of your posts that indicated they had all the business they could handle. No competition close by can make a company lazy or they are overwhelmed so just do what they do and know the bikes are lined up.

In my business, I have quit working for companies like that 2 times.  More than they could do or knew how to do so they quit trying.  Disgusted me so I quit after a time myself - them.

Your sequence of events - well documented - on this dealer - indicates they have lost it.  Too damn bad and if they went bust they deserve it. Hope the new one does better on the 17th.

Thanks iski. Yeah these guys simply don't have their act together at all! I hope the new one does! And I've done the same as you regarding jobs twice also, both for the same reason. And now I'm considering a third time. My Co. was recently bought by a giant Milwaulkee Corp. It must have something to do with Miwaulkee companies and their management! ::) Hoist! 8)

Pure coincidence Howie, but one of the buyouts and that made it easy for me to leave was a Milwaukee company as well.  Their management was great - in their own minds.

Great place to drink beer usually - Milwaukee.  For some reason when I was at the home office of that company it did not taste as good as it did after I left. I drink to that sometimes.  ;D

Not fun to change jobs but the end result for me has always been better. Best of luck!

I had a guy wanting all of our used CV joints from VW products.

As I understand it he breaks them down for the ball bearings (big suckers) and puts them in light weight sandwich bags.

He is said to just flip a baggy over his shoulder and when it hits the pavement the baggy lets go and VAVOOM, instant machine gun.

I have become too concerned about cagers with guns though.  I don't often carry myself either, as the desire to use the object I'd be carrying would be too great.

The best one I ever saw was when I bought my new 1970 Triumph Tiger, a guy had his bike in for service and it had a scabbered on it.  I asked about it and the service guy told me that the customer had just made a ride from NYC to Seattle and mounted a 30-30 in the scabbered and was said to have amde an uneventful trip.

Imagine that, I guess those cagers aren't so dumb afterall.  ::)

A 30-30 would get lots of attention.

Never used the baggie, but a handfull of ball bearings can make a mess and accuracy is not as critical.  In the Bug Infested Jungle State (here) and back home (Texas) lots of folks carry.  So the risk of getting shot is real.  Remember Dennis Hopper & Peter Fonda at the end of Easy Rider.............

My buddy Ed told me a good way to get back at cagers. Get a pack of BB's. Open the whole pack and let them spill on the road. It doesn't do any real damage, but gets their attention. Either that or stop them and break out their headlights.

Throw them up in the air or just spill them? What will they do if you spill them? I think a brick in the air would send a better message! Or better yet, just strap a cmu (concrete block) on your luggage rack, move right in front of your target then release the bungee chord. ;D ;D ;D

That's interesting..........so do the BBs simply get picked up by the wind and their tires and make all sorts of Gawdawful racket under the cage?  Enough to get their attention that they're following too close without screwing up their cage?  Sounds like a good idea...............but I can also see it making someone's road rage kick into high gear, and actually run down a biker for doing it.  That would require some curvey roads with alternative routes to get away from that sort of rage.
