Not so fast. Top end's coming back off. Pistons were not properly clearanced by CP (piston manufacturer), and hit on the downstroke. Alex has to remove the cylinders again and clearance the new forged pistons, which were supposed to be done by CP. Wes said he goes thru this chit all the time with vendors. He's overnighting another Cometic Gasket kit. They should be clearanced by the end of the day and ready to be reassembled tomorrow. No way it will be completed tomorrow, but must be done by Thurs. Alex leaves on Fri. for 6 weeks. Am I crazy to still be optimistic? Well I am (both crazy and optimistic), but a little unsettled right now! :nixweiss:

I'm actually still pretty calm right now Don. Can't handle many more "surprises" though. Frankly, I was expecting all this crap the first time, but there were no surprises then. I'm not too surprised right now, as we used custom barrels and pistons this time. Alex dreaded that call to me after I left. He was surprised at how calm I was! Man these new drugs I'm on are working great! ;D (just kidding about the drug part!) ;)

Piston clearancing completed. Took "a whole bunch off" the front piston skirt. Waiting for new gaskets and reassembly tomorrow! :2vrolijk_21: :nixweiss:

I did have concerns about that, but Alex said he tried to keep the clearancing even on both pistons (they don't have a scale though, just eyeballed). At this point, I'm starting not to give a chit. This will either work or not. Getting a little tired of this whole process. And HD don't pay me enough to continue testing their junk! And I don't work for free!

Like I said earlier, last try on this motor! It blows again and it's new motor time. But it won't go in this bike, I'll tell you that! Nothing lees than an S&S 124 goes in next. No more work will be done on this engine for this bike. It will either work or it won't. Only the Chopper Gods know for sure where my fate lies! ;)

Howie the pistons are CP. Don't complain about the "Harley junk" when it's not.
CP are what's in the Frontier but mine were balanced.


Well at least, should something go wrong then you can't blame it on the "Harley junk"

It will either be your lack of patience to take every step necessary to do it right one last time or that aftermarket junk?

I wish you luck. I hope that it all holds up so this saga can finally come to an end. From the 2 year warranty, I'm not touching it, to the I'm just using Harley parts, to the secret heads and motor combo, to the nothing but the best but I'm not balancing the pistons, to god only knows whats next.

Please God let this motor live!
I'm not bustin your balls above but sooner or later this story needs to end.

I'm not even up to virtual tuner status but even I would stop the train if my pistons were not balanced.
Cause you know what they say, If they are not balanced then they must be "unbalanced".
