This bike is on a 3000 mile service plan at the dealership. Changed like clock work every 3000 miles with HD 20w50.
I got shoes off of another bike with 33,000 miles on it that has the same amount of wear that that these show. They were changed today. The only differance is that the  crank driven chain shoe showes all the wear. IMO I think its more of a problem with rough chains instead of shoe material.

I will be takng my SERK in for warranty work next week. With 34,000 miles on the engne I will have them take a look to see if I have the same problem. Might be time to swith to the gear cams.

Let us know what you find, Mack.  From what I have read about this issue, it seems to be hit and miss.  Some bikes will show little or no wear until it's time for a complete rebuild anyway, and others will be junk around the 30,000 mile mark like these.

DID YOU HAVE ANY WARNING, LIKE HEREING THE CHAIN HITTING THE HOUSING?
I GUESS THE TENSIONER WAS STILL HOLDING THE PRESSURE AGAINST THE CHAIN SLACK SIDE.  PLEASE LET US KNOW THE OUT COME OF THIS PROBLEM.

Is there a chance that these tensioners are being set to taught, either @ service or straight from the factory? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

My SERK is a sick puppy!!  Last Sunday when I stopped at a signal light the motor had a sound like a squeeky fan belt on a car. Man was it loud!!!  Dealer picked it up Tuesday(First time any bike I have owned has been on a trailer and I have been riding for 28 years.I guess my luck ran out)  Jury is in on the damage...  will be replacing both cams lifters, oil pump, back plate, bearings. They think a contributing factor is  the tensioner . I have just under 15000 miles on my 03. I will be going back with a gear drive for sure. Not sure about which cam to use.  I am going to post a cam question in the engine section for some help making that decision.
BTW this is my first post
