Striker

Remember 140 is the top mathematical speed.

magoo's gps has shown 138.

Your right about that bat-wing [smiley=nervous.gif].Does make me nervous.

At the Myrtle Beach Tater said we were running close to 140 on the way to Charleston.
I think that was cause I was drafting him [smiley=shocked2.gif].

I really don't have a clue as to how fast we were going.
Speedo stops at 120 [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I'm thinking that you would need at least 160 to 180 HP, and balls the size of an elephant, to hit 170 mph.  A stiff tailwind wouldn't hurt either.

Ah nuts, the whole elephant "thing" just brings up more problems though.  You'd need a bigger seat to hold them, which is going to catch more wind.  So if, roughly speaking, D=kV2 than just how many big elephant balls will that seat hold  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Top Speed  on a 2004 Seeg Just because you can go 100mph in 4th gear at what ever the rpm doesn't mean anything. I have had mine up to 115mph at about 4,500 rpm several times and to be honest with you I don't think it will go much faster un less you remove the wind deflectors, shorten the windsheild and maybe a race tuner or motor work done.
I have Sampson rolled thunder pipes screamin eagle air cleaner and the up grade down load. It gets to 110 mph fast but slows down on the pick up after that. I think it's the wind factor with the fairing and lowers etc.
If you guys are getting 125mph plus you are lucky or have two into one exhaust or something different down hill, huge tail wind or full of.... thats my two cents worth. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

[smiley=nixweiss.gif] My 04 pumpkin - SE 2 piece slip-on muffs, A/C kit and download.... I must be lucky... ran about 20 minutes straight with the speedo past pinned.  As I recall, it was right around 4500 rpms.... felt like it would have done about 10 mph more, but my fairing began acting like a sail.  [smiley=nervous.gif]  That event caused both my breather bolts to come almost totally undone.  Apparently, it's ok to run that fast, just not that long.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Actually, my guess is that you can't go any  faster because your rear wheel is substantially smaller in diameter from all the burn-outs... [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  not to mention the fact that you don't have a tour-pac on there pushing you along...     If you get Carol or me  up close behind you to draft you'll be able to go a lot faster [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=zwtf.gif]

With the 9 1/2 ich windshield the SEEG ran as far past 120 as the distance is between 110 and 120.

How fast is that?
Don't know.
Maybe 121 or more.

But I ran out if road before I ran out of motor on that occasion!

The Evil Doc.......where the hell on the Starboard Coast did you find enough road to run for 20 minutes at 'speed'????  I'm assuming that you wouldn't want to do that for 20 minutes on a super-slab ..... you'd surely attract the wrong attention.   Inquiring minds want to know!   Har!   [smiley=nervous.gif]   spyder        [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Only thing this cowardly lion knows for sure is that much over 100 he's not looking down at the speedo anyway.  If it's not logged by the GPS I don't have a clue how fast it's been.  Fortunately the GPS has proved to be accurate so it's worth trusting.

Not sure how much weight this will have coming from Ms. hd2003 but ...

Wednesday night is bike night at the local Quaker Steak & Lube (burger joint with a racing theme) so Chip and I try to hit it every couple of weeks.   [smiley=beer.gif]    [smiley=drink.gif]

Last night a good friend, riding his Suzuki, joined us for the ride over.  We got on I485 and the ride started as any other but by the time it was over it ended like many (you guessed it Brian) ... at over 100 mph.  Now, personally, I have this thing for speed and I've committed to hd2003 that I wouldn't ride over 100 mph anymore [smiley=uhoh.gif] so I was behind ... way behind ... and I didn't like it either!! [smiley=veryangry2.gif]

At one point, while I was traveling at 99.9 mph [smiley=laugh.gif] they were little, tiny dots in front of me and it took me several minutes to catch up.  When we came to a stop on the exit ramp I looked over at the two of them and, smiling, asked "how fast?"  Chip didn't know 'cause his speedo only goes to 120 but our friend said he stayed with him at 131 mph!!  All I could say was "WOW ... and that was pulling a hill." [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

So Chip ... way to go Baby!!  [smiley=love_7.gif]
A man (nor a woman) can never have too much horsepower!!
[smiley=cherry.gif]

Oh, and I want to be the first to tell you ... congratulations on 1,000 posts!!!!

Spyd, W/B I-80 S/W of Chicago... 5AM on a Sunday morning.  It's straight line (highway) all the way!  No woods, no suprises to jump out...  Just open fields on both sides for miles and miles.  And, I've abused my little bit of authority there before.  [smiley=1syellow1.gif]  But the ISP is sleeping around that time, and they are few and far between anyways.... [smiley=beerchug.gif]

And Maverick, you better get your bike looked at, I'm 275 and NOT pulling your leg sir!  My buddy on his 03 stock RK Classic was doing 115. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I think there are probably a lot of variables laying around for true top speed...   I know Electrglidese rides the hell out of his, but apparently his top end is much lower than mine, and I carry a taller widshield, a tourpac, (which he leaves off), and I probably outwiegh him by twenty pounds or so...  however, flat out on I-5, southbound out of Eugene, I and tow others, both on 95" road glides, checked em out, and I wlaked away from the both of them and they were sitting right around 125...  (I wasn't spending much time looking at the speedo because the big kite on the front was giving my gastric spasms... Which is much faster than his will run him down the road....

I wonder what the real differences are:...   tire pressure? alignment? motor break in procedures? tranny rolling resisitance?  tail wind? aerodynamic (with/without tour pac)? tuning differences?  lack of common sense? [smiley=confused5.gif]

No tour-pak, no lowers, no wind deflectors on fairing, stock 04 short windshield, proper tire pressure, and I broke my motor in properly (yes, we can argue what that really means).  Now, I can beat the crap out of her and she runs like a Rolex.  If I can run speedo pinned for that long at 275lbs with my MINOR mods, anybody can.  Something is wrong with a 103 anything that can only do 115.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Gotta believe DJ cause he's just that kind of guy.  He might fib about favorite foods or favorite colors or age or taxes; but never about speed.  The man knows his priorities after all  [smiley=thumbsup.gif].  But hey, I had the GPS mounted on the red bike one trip.  I weigh 230 and with a 9" windscreen, lowers mounted (and the vents closed) and the king tour pak mounted the GPS recorded 128.  I didn't know it until afterwards as I was hanging on for dear life and concentrating on not soiling my Depends.  But it got there  [smiley=beerchug.gif] .
