Recieved my letter today dated August 13th for the 0905 program.  :bananarock:

I'm sure the parts and the available appointments wont be around until after Labor Day.

As part of the program on the day of the repair, I'm sure I'll get a free Ultra loaner rather than pay the $50 taxi ride round trip, a lunch voucher for $25, probably a free Harley T-Shirt for my trouble and my bike will be waxed and detailed upon return!  :drink:   "More Cowbell Please"...

RED Alert..I got a letter from HD today about some possible problems with our Screaming Eagle 110 engines. Have you guys had any problems?

HeHe!!! Yeah, cause they worked on it! Now let's see how many threads we can start, to talk about gaskets, O-rings, and lower case bolts!!! Cause that's gonna fix everything!!! Maybe we can start talking about the 2-Yr W.....ty again too!!! ::) ;D ;)

My 0905 letter was in the mailbox when I got home this evening... I get new heads :bananarock:

Not leaking again (yet), but I'll probably get it in pretty quick because I'm way tired of the top-end noise -- the service manager assured me that they will take care of the top-end noise while they have it... sure hope so!

I received the letter today.

I'd say more but too aggravated. I told the dealer this letter was coming three weeks ago. Do you think anyone from the dealership would call and say "hey, we got parts in for your VIN, when can we make an appointment?"? That was a rhetorical question, please don't answer that.

Came today --- dated 08/13/08. program # 0906.
Noticed a misting of oil at the bottom rear of the back cylinder last week. Can't tell if it's the rear cylinder base gasket or the pushrod base gasket leaking. Pretty sure it's not the head gasket.
Will call the dealer to see what they have to say about 'THE LETTER' being as how I'm still waiting to hear from them (over a month now) about my messed-up speedometer backlighting (SM said he'd call the factory and see if they knew of any speedo problems) and if they came out with any alternative tires as even the owner of my dealership ADMITTED that my rear tire was "....a screamer..." when he test rode the bike. Said he'd talk to the '(factory) tire people' at the show in Vegas. Said he'd go crazy if he had to listen to my rear tire singin' for any length of time. I told him it's not my tire it's your company's tire!

The Ultras have had a much greater failure rate than the other models so that's why the heads are being replaced on them and not the others. I'm just guess here, but I bet if you swallow a valve guid on one of the other models, that would mean a new engine which would be pretty sweet.

You wouldn't be too upset over not getting just the heads replaced then. If I were you, I'd be looking to drop a valve guide at about 1 year and 10 months and then walk in and get your new motor. That would be sweet. :)

:indian_chief:
Thanks Chief  i will hope for a new motor in 22 months   Billy

It arrived on Saturday dated the 13th and postmarked the 14th.

I have owned two Harley's in my life and they are now 2-2 on being recalled.

Of course I have only owned two automobiles and they are also 2-2 on being recalled as well.

Sorry for jinxing the 110 owners of this site  :nixweiss:

Vote with your cash, that's the most important thing you can do.  Calls to CS are a waste of time and energy.  Letters to the MoFo do sometimes work a little.  Same with letters to the dealers, sometimes it has an effect, sometimes not.  But the money, that's what matters to everyone.

That says it ALL, period. I have done just that locally.

BTW, I got my letter on Saturday the 16th as well. I'll wait to see if I'm going to trade or not. If I do I'll turn the letter into the dealer I swap with and let them handle it. If not, I'll have it done when the next leak crops up.
