As reported here, the Tru-Trak does decrease ground clearance slightly.  This is especially noticable on the lowered CVO bikes.  I've had some grinding contact with the side of the dogbone on a couple of occasions so far.  Nothing drastic, been thinking of adding a Ti grinding block to let the sparks fly!!!!!! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Who's the first out of the shoot on the Ride-Str8 install?  It would be interesting to hear some feedback on both the install and the handling results.

Fatboy there never was any ban on posting.  If that'd been the case the thread could have been "locked."  Only thing I asked was that until we got some answers back to avoid doing any flame throwing about the product, it's manufacturer or any undocumented or unverificable history.  Just didn't want any inciting or incendiary chatter why we were waiting on information from the manufacturer.

The manufacturer so many of us are buying these things from is aware of this board.  In my conversations with him he has mentioned watching it.  I didn't want to spook him or have him suddenly getting defensive because multiple folks were attacking or questioning him.

Doing that would have made it damn near impossible to get any kind of a straight answer and an answer in writing.  It was important to get both of those things.

For what it's worth I'll forewarn everyone that until we get some information back that is pertinent to commentary I will be somewhat more aggressive in monitoring this thread and editing or deleting things that stir things up only for the sake of stirring things up.

Twolane,

I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood your comments above.  [smiley=confused5.gif]

*To date I do not own either product.

But I do recognize the issue and potential danger's that " motorcycle instability" present. While in Sturgis I spent time specifically seeking and researching the current solutions that are on the market  so I will be making an "intelligent and informed" decision shortly on which product to buy.  I just want to hear "all the information and opinion's" that I can before spending the cash.

News !!

Ok folks, for those interested in the product itself here's the latest news:

I just got a tracking email informing that the first box of three units that Dan Semmere shipped earlier in the week should be delivered to me tomorrow.  I will get the individual units reshipped to those three of you that are confirmed for this first batch (you know who you are) either tomorrow or Monday depending on how late in the day the box gets to me tomorrow.

For those wondering about delivery times for this last leg shipping you'll need to estimate what your normal ship time is for parcels to/from just about the center of the country (zip code 64801).

There has been no change in the news on the backordered units.  So we still could be as long as ten days from the original order date (or just about a week from now) before Dan puts the remainder of the units on their way to me.

Installation
(for those that asked)

The first three kits arrived to me today from Ride Str8.  Three users had been confirmed to get these first three.  With the recent stories and worries, however, one of these fine gentleman asked me yesterday to take the kit that would have been his and install it on the ride bike.  His kindness came only with a request that pictures of the install and some description be posted.

Being the generally selfish bastard that I am I gladly accepted his place in line.  The parts got here this morning and I put them on this afternoon.

For those concerned this is a very simple installation.  Including the time to take the pictures while working I spent about 40 minutes.  Most of you will likely spend a bit more though.

Mine was quicker because as it turned out with the true duals I had enrough room to get the right side bracket off wtihout moving the pipe.  Those of you with other exhaust might not (likely will not) be so lucky.

Don't worry.  You won't have to remove exhaust.  Just loosen the bracket below the tranny and remove the bolts from the muffler hanger and you should gain enough wiggle room to get the bottom bolt on that right side bracket in and out.

On to the pics and descriptions as promised.

Here's what you get in the kit.  Two brackets, a turnbuckle with heim joints on the end, some Loctite, a set of computer printed instructions and a bolt and an o-ring that aren't in the picture.

It's not a lot of stuff for $325.00 (after core return) but I guess we're paying as much for what it does as what it is  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

With the rightside passenger footboard already removed here is the right side bracket that will be removed from the bike.  You'll reuse the two bolts (one hidden behind the pipe in the picture is the reason that most of you will have to loosen the exhaust---it'll be a tight fit).  You'll also reuse the big chrome swingarm cover you see in the middle of the bracket and a little plastic plug in your unused footboard bolt hole.

View of the back of the oil bag.  Those three bolts will be removed to be replaced by longer bolts that come with the bracket to be attached there.

Bracket in place mounted to the oil bag.  The three bolts that come with that bracket were stuck pretty firmly in the bracket on mine.  Spin them loose on the bench first you can start them by hand in to the aluminum.  No sense in taking an unnecessary chance of cross threading something.  Don't forget a dab of Loctite on the bolts.

A view that illustrates the bracket on the oil bag, the adjustable cross shaft that will go from it to the side bracket, and the newly installed side bracket's attaching point for the cross shaft.

Close up of the mounting tab on the side bracket to which the cross shaft will bolt.  That hole is threaded (no nut on top).
