How do you do that..... unless you are riding as passenger?  :nixweiss:

Most people swing a leg over standing on the left side, sounds like he swings over standing on the right.
Maybe he used to have a kicker and started the bike from the right side (left knee on the seat). Old habits are hard to change  ;)

Man I'd forgotten about that.  Kickback, blood or bruises, bad words and getting on from the wrong side.  I miss those bikes.

Ok... not that it really matters, but the right footboard would be the high-side when the bike is parked on the kickstand.  I can't imagine stepping up on the footboard and then throwing my left leg over the seat.  I would turn the bike over on myself... but then I am not the most agile, coordinated, and talented person around.
I stand on the right side of the bike and while my right foot is still firmly planted on the ground, I throw my left leg over the bike and straddle the seat with both feet on the ground.  Usually don't pick a foot up and put it on the footboard until I am ready to ride..... Am I doing it wrong :huepfenlol2:

Ok

Since the bones are getting a little old and mostly bruised up I usually can't swing my right leg over from the low side (left side) without scaring up the seat or a saddle bag by dragging my right foot on them once in a while  :o Not all the time, but sometimes if I'm not paying attention.

So I tried standing up with my right foot on the right floorboard (high side) and if I keep my weight leaning towards the tank I have found even at 250lb I can stand there and the bike won't tip back to the right side, it will still lean on the kick stand. Then I sort of pick my left leg up and step thru and over the drivers seat. I do this all in one quick motion so I don't take any chances of the bike tipping back on me.

It works well when the wife is on the back since I don't have to worry about kicking her with a swinging foot . :soapbox: But I have to make sure she's not leaning to much to the right when I get on because that can tend to tip the bike back to the high side off the stand.

All that being said, I still get on the low side sometimes anyway  :)

So, keeping that in mind, I think the bolts will be strong enough, just have to keep in mind the increased leverage, as the board will be out further.

The extensions really make a difference in comfort, you will appreciate it.

kuryakan also makes these extenders which moves the boards out 1" and forward 1"

http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=3927

.

I ordered these (part # 4588) and they don't fit on my '08 SERK.  The slot where the front brackets bolt to the support arms are too narrow.  The back brackets were the right size, but that doesn't help much . . . .  The guys at Kuryakyn were surprised too.

Anybody else run into this problem?   :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Too narrow by how much ?

I was going to order some soon too.

Can you file or dremel the slot ?

I was also going to order these.  What did Kuryakyn say about it and did they offer any solution.

Anybody know if I can get something along these lines for my Fatboy? Would I be able to just cut half a dozen bits of stainless pipe about a 1/2" long and use longer bolts?
