Hey BigDaddy, I'll ride from Dago to Laconia in June if you and Naitram ride back to Dago with me Getting tired of doing 7,000 mile rides by myself. Free room and board here in Dago (well at least till my old lady tosses your sorry asses)
Where is Dago? Other than 7000 miles from Laconia and thats a long trip to hang out in the cold rain for a week. Later,Q [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Not proof reading my post I assume by mathematical figuration that it is in essence 3500 miles away being that you ride there and back. Must be Cali.  Doh!   Later Spidey,Q

San Diego (Dago) is 3,220 miles from Laconia [give or take] I rode to Laconia from Dago last June - - - no rain till I got to Maine  (big surprise) Guess you've never ridden in the southwestern part of the US or you wouldn't be worried about rain in June

Over the last 16 months, I've put almost 26K on 2 bikes.  I've had my cherry since the end of August and have 8400 on it already with no overnight trips yet...

no heated gear but i do have some snow mobile gauntlets on my handlebars for when it gets down in the low 40's upper 30's below that i dont get much riding in due to snow, and sand and road salt dont make for good riding conditions. :'(

This changed from the wires I saw!

I went to Laconia every year from 69 to 97. In those days, we rode in on Thursday night and rode home on Sunday. This week long thing is the Daytona/Sturgis effect. I would say over that 28 year span it was nice ridin in on Thursday, nice on Friday, always hot on Saturday and rained a lot on the way home on Sunday. Last year was my first since 97 and of course it rained a bunch, but I headed to
St. Marie, Canada on Saturday through Maine under absolutely beautiful clear cool skies. One of the things that makes long rides such an adventure is weather. Look at Sturgis 04. 109 in Vegas, 99 in Colorado and then mostly 60's once we got to Sturgis. Biketoberfest this year. Hot and humid all week and then of course WILMA at the end of the week, then mid 30's to low 50's back across I-20 till I hit New Mexico and Arizona and then once through Yuma, 60's in Cal. Anyone thinks they can predict the weather to any degree of acuracy, start your own service, I'll be your first client.

Spiderman, you are ssoooooo right about the weather being all part of the adventure of being on the road on a bike.  It can really give any trip it's own character, for sure.........but, makes me ready for the next one soon!  :) har!  spyder

Yup Spidey I have to agree with you, weather is unpredictable and it sometimes sucks.I was in Daytona for Biketoberfest this year and it was hot and humid but thankfully Wilma came later than expected.Last year in Daytona the area was ravaged by 3 hurricanes and half of Daytona's hotels were destroyed. So I guess if you want to go out ridin ,long distance or not just be prepared for any weather condition.   Later,Q

Just to stick to the thread- - - -With a week to go for 05, I've put 19,000 miles on 3 different bikes in basically 8 months of ridin. I was in Oahu,Hawaii Jan/Feb/March (didn't get more than 500 miles on borrowed bikes) and was down for a month after a wreck in late June. I also don't ride to work. FYI, 2005 was a horrible year. I wrecked (no big deal beyond the totaled 03 SERK and some bad road rash) one close buddy wrecked (totaled 03 SERK, 3 months in the hospital) another good buddy wrecked (totaled 03 Black and Silver UC- - concussion) and lastly a long time bro died this past Saturday after a month in a coma from a wreck. Toughest year in all my years ridin. Here's hopin 06 will bring better luck for all.
