Getting back to ultrafxr's question, I live in the socialist republic of Illinois, and have been working hard to lobby for our recent attempt at CCW which failed.  Now Illinois is the last state in the entire country that denies it's citizens any type of CCW right.  We are now fighting this in the courts, and are making slow but sure progress but these gun-grabbing liberals are not giving up easily. In fact, even after the courts are now awarding the gun-rights plaintiffs attorney fees and costs, they still are fighting and pissing away tax payers money, which proves they are going to fight to the bitter end.

That said, I very highly recommend that when visiting ANY state that does not recognize your out of state CCW, immediately disarm, and store the weapon legally. I have my Utah CCW permit, and will carry in those states that recognize my permit, but before I enter a state that does not, I pull over, remove my clip, and everything goes in a small locked box in the tourpak.

For years I used to keep a 45 in the car, hidden of course, but now that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I'm not risking a felony UUW which would then prevent me from ever owning a gun again. If they'd do that to one of their own otherwise law abiding citizens, you better believe that if an out of stater is caught in Illinois packing, it's going to be a very bad day for them. I recommend that you don't even think about it as they do not mess around - you will go straight to jail and it's gonna cost you dearly, fwiw.

Seperate card in the Mountain State.  Not required to inform LEO, in WV.  Careful on the way to Daytona, as Georgia does not recognize Permit to Carry.  HUB don't speed going thru the Peach State.  Later--HUBBARD

Yeah, I thought so....thanks, D00d.  It was interesting that PA & MD 'flip-flopped' on resiprocity w/ NC a few years ago....I was up that way and was legal where I thought I wasn't and illegal where I thought I was ... or something like that....I just know to stay out of DC, Illinois & Calif and the New England area and I'll be OK.  Too bad that this great country of ours has to have these pockets of stupidity still existing.  But, we're making progress slowly.  spyder

I have a different take on this. I have had a CCW permit in Colorado and Utah for several years. When planning a motorcycle trip, I always check for reciprocity with those two states. I then BYPASS the states that do not reciprocate.  I am legal to conceal carry in 35 states with those two permits, so there are plenty of places to see and ride in those states and spend my money. When I am on my bike I always have Smith and Wesson riding with me (first name 357) .  My opinion is that I should NOT need a permit to conceal carry in the first place. The wife and I both carry 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This year we will finally be able to go thru Yellowstone National Park on the way to Sturgis, with a CCW. :2vrolijk_21:

That's easy to do if your state respects our 2nd ammendment rights. I too would avoid a state that infringes, but when you live there, you're kind of screwed.

At the present time, Colorado is still part of the USA (I am not sure why the people of Illinois keep voting in those that do not follow the second ammendment rights). If and when they take our CCW rights away, they will turn me into a criminal overnight. They will be able to take my guns from me very easily as they are drawing the chalk marks around my body.

Agree totally.  I carried before NC passed a CCW law, but, was one of the earliest to apply for & become licensed afterwards.  It makes no sense (to me anyway) to prohibit law-abiding citizens from being on equal footing with the bad guys.  No one has yet convienced me that there will always be a armed LEO readily available to protect me from armed criminals, so... :nixweiss:....  spyder

You got that one 100% correct Spyder  -----  in an emergency, when SECONDS count  -----  law enforcement is only MINUTES away!!  Why is it the politicians do not want you to legally carry a weapon? Could it be they are afraid of the public, because of all of their lame governing?? Of cource that could not be the case in Illinois, as there is NO corrupt government in that state. Right? "wink, wink".

Only option is to relocate and leave it to the criminals & politicians that keep you from being able to protect yourself.  If enough did that, they've have a change of perspective on the issue before too long.  IMHO.  spyder

here's a more universal site.
I hold a NY, Utah, & Florida,  and I'm still technically illegal when I go to Daytona.
South Carolina doesn't recognize NY,  or non resident Utah or Florida :nixweiss:  go figure

They do not Honor Colorado either, but guess what  ----  I found roads AROUND their state on my east coast trip two years ago.  I guess concealed means no one but you knows you are carrying. So I guess you could say it is only illegal to carry in S. Carolina if YOU GET CAUGHT. :nixweiss:

I do know that a few years back at a check stop in Myrtle Beach,SC, a friend was arrested for having a pistol 'exposed' in his truck which is the only legal way to carry in NC unless you have a 'CCW'.  It's exactly opposite in S.C. than N.C.....you've got to have it hidden away like 'out of sight' in S.C.  So, guess what...you can legally ride thru S.C. with it in your saddlebag or luggage and just don't tell anyone it's there and you're a CCW permit holder and you'll be 'legal'. (unless things have changed....I'm not from S.C. so maybe someone who knows the SC law could bring us up to date if this is now outdated.   spyder
