I wonder how much oil one would lose by removing just the hoses without completely draining the system? I'm thinking the hoses are just weak, as in not enough cord reinforcement in the material, and perhaps not appropriately temp rated. Makes you wonder if they changed vendors in '06 since the problem seems to be only with that model year and not prior. Might be easier to pay the 20 bucks for a pair of hoses, take them to a local hose/belt company who makes stuff for hydraulic applications...used to deal with some of those companies back in my tool belt days...and get them to make a couple of formed hoses from a higher quality material. A side benefit might be that they might have a better hose, but thinner material so the rubbing on the frame would not be an issue. Might even be a way to cover them in braided stainless, then spray them with clearcoat to keep the braiding from getting funky over time. Think I'll make a couple of calls today...
