The bike showed 115 ft/lbs, and 121 hp, SAE, 5th gear, chopping it off at 5500, here on our Dynojet 150, totally untuned.
Should be a ton of fun once completely tuned. :2vrolijk_21:

FOR THOSE THAT WANTED TO KNOW : OUTCOME OF STAGE III BUILD. :bananarock: :coolblue:

I'm taking my bike down to Joe's cycle in the morning.
Both he and Hillside are waiting to see the final
numbers. Both of them think with the build, have possibility for
a top performer. Joe tells me when he is done he will post the map.

I picked it up from Hillside and now I just have to get it back to Joe's Cycle for the tune.
Hillside told me they got a very good flow out of the heads and they too are waiting for the
numbers.

Did you put in the gear driven S&S cams?

Any reason you stayed with the chaing v. the gear?

Scott,

I would be really curious to your answer as well about chain vs gear drive cams. From my understanding the new chain drive system is pretty good. I was just in a discussion with somebody that was giving me shoot for keeping my chain drive setup. Kept insisting that the gear was so much better, how much horsepower I am waisting. From what I have read I didn't think it was really the case. Your opinion?

I had the opportunity to visit the S&S factory, they're just up the road a bit from me.  They showed me both systems, and the gear drive system turned much smoother than the chain tension system.  Their message to me on this is that less friction is created by the gear drive system and in turn allows the engine to turn over easier.  They equate that into easier starts, more torque and HP.  The torque and HP gain is dependent on which cams you install.

I've been happy with the gear drive, a bit more noise, but that seems to go away as the stereo gets turned up :2vrolijk_21:

The gain is not from the friction loss, but rather the gear/gear timing accuracy.
We too have a similar fixture here, with gear drives on one, vs an early silent chain, for display, in our retail area, but the late model hydraulic system seems to work very well, and is a cost savings, over the gear drive.
Another reason is that IF, the flywheels do shift a tick, the gear driven set-ups are NOT forgiving, and WILL rip the teeth right off the gears, and will introduce hardened gear material, into the oiling system, and THAT is not what you want whatsoever. :)
