Man,
Some of us burn the midnight oil for two or three weekends to get a trick fender like that and what do you do ? Toss it in the dumpster. I thought better of you little buddy.  :D

Glad it was only a bent fender. Glad you and the Mrs did not get hurt. Must have exercised some pro brake control. Also, the best part is you continued on your adventure to share the pics and stories with us. Gotta give you the big thumbs up for that  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Big Brian and everyone, thanks a bunch for the feedback well wishes.  I'll have to delay posting the rest of our trip highlights.  My mom just had a pretty bad stroke and is in the hospital.  My dad has, since my visit, been diagnosed with 3 blocked arteries and an aneurism in his lower heart.  He was perfectly fine 2 weeks ago.  Both my brothers are in Illinois and can watch over him and my stepmom, but I'm the only one here in California to help with my mom and stepdad, so I'll not be around for a few days.

Take care all.

Later,

Steve

Steve, look after the family- at all costs, and first. We have all been there, in differnet circumsances, and times, and support you and wish you all the strength it will take to help you through this ordeal.  If there is anything at all that any of us can do, just ask. I know I speak for all of us on this.  May your healing and strength come fast and true.

Wow, what a trip, would have loved to seen this while you were in the area, always looking for an excuse to go for a ride, although my ride might have been in the shop when you were in the NY/PA area.

How many miles a day average?
What seat are you using?
What did you pack for a 7k+ trip?

Thanks all for the kind words.  The support for fellow site members can't be rivaled on any other site, and I belong to a few.

My dad had his triple/aneurism repair Friday.  He was moved to a TCU yesterday and is starting his walking/huffing/puffing routines, and should mend soon.  My mom had a very minor stroke, not major, but has some neurological issues to deal with.  Her recovery is going to be a longer one.  Once they figure out what's causing her loss of feeling and strength in her legs and hands, then they say it's repairable.  I'm trying to get them up here for a few days so we can help mom until she can stand on her own.

Again, thanks for everything to the Bro's and Sis's on the site, there's none better.

Porthole,

Would have loved visiting with you.

We traveled about 430 to 530 miles per day.  We started out around 3:30am each morning so most of the ride was out of the way before the heat kicked in.  We were just in front of the heat wave that hammered the country.

I purchased a HD Road Zepplin on Ebay for $500 with backrest.  That's half the HD price.
*** I want to take this opportunity to thank NASTY HABIT for sharing his Road Zepplin experience and pix with me via email and PM.  We talked a lot about the Zepplin and the DF fairing.  My decision to go DF and a Zepplin were based on seeing it on his SERK***
Thx again Nasty Habit [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

We packed 3 days worth of clothes, including a pair of shoes.  We each took a saddlebag.  We had chaps, jackets, extra oil, tool kit, extra helmet shields, rain gear, and a towel in the tourpak.  We had the shower kit, all of our longsleeve t-shirts, road atlas and all the junk we bought along the way stored in the T-bag.  OBTW, that T-bag was awesome, worth every cent.

I forgot to mention that we mailed back the nic-nacks and extra HD shirts.  Mailed stuff from Illinois and Rhode Island.  T-bag was bulging on the way home, but we just kept cramming westbound stuff in there.

All the best to your folks.  Thanks again for the trip pics and updates.

Not to hijack the thread but Gilligan, did you hear they are selling the Skipper's boat?

The next 3 pix are in Virginia along I-81.  We spent some time driving in the clouds.  Stunning scenery that rivals NY.
