[smiley=nixweiss.gif] Help me understand why anyone would spend $3K plus for a six-speed? My CUSE 103 is turning slightly less than 3K RPM's at 70 MPH. It's hardly working. If I had a six-speed I'd be at 2500 RPM's at the same speed. That's close to lugging the engine plus you'd absolutely want to downshift every time you needed to pass. Isn't the maximum efficiency (torque etc) of the 103 seen above 3K RPM's? I guess it might save you 20 or 30 cents per tank in increased fuel mileage....... that'll take a while to recoup the investment. Let's buy more chrome instead!

Help me understand why anyone would spend 30K to 40K on a motorcycle in the first place.    [smiley=confused5.gif]  LOL

To answer your question, I changed my gearing to 3.37 to get more pulling power in the lower gears, and the 6th gear puts me at 3K @ 80 mph, which is right in the sweet spot.

That's the same question my wife asked when I spent more on the bike than I did on her current vehicle (only slightly, but that argument just got me a stony look).

I was looking at the 6 speed as a way of avoiding getting all caught up in the '07 Harley excitement, so I figured that it would save me money.  I like my Haze better than any of the '07 CUSEs, so adding the 6th gear means that the '07 just has a couple of cu. in. on me.  I usually know where I am when I ride, so I don't need the navigation stuff.  The power locks on the tour pack and saddle bags just take up more storage space.

I would like to have a remote control for my radio so I wouldn't have to reach all the way up to the dash to hit the power button.  Maybe that will be something for the FLHTCUSE3.  When are they going to start putting windshield wipers on the bikes?

Hello Phaze...if this will be intsalled by the stealer....you get the warranty even though you don't get the parts from the stealer which will make the installation. In other words, I get the parts from HD Motor City, Michigan with the 20% disount, and I took all the parts to my local dealer and they charged only for installations and the warranty was given,,,

Ride safe mi amigo,

Jorge
Did they tell you what that warranty would be?  I'm going to have to talk to my dealer (stealer) and find out.  I just wondered what they told you.  Thanks!

John,

They both use the same gear set and shifting mechanism, the difference is that the full trans comes completely assembled from the MoCo.  If I remember correctly, the stock trans case has to have a little material removed on the trap door side before you install the gear set.  If you have the tools and knowledge to do the install yourself, or have a mechanic you trust, the gear set will save you a little cash and will perform exactly the same.
