Absolutely agree. Terrific forum. I truly think that everyone on here actually appreciates the fact that these are "special" motorcycles and all feel pretty good about being in a position to own one ...and you guys don't mind sharing their experience and knowledge with novices (even "GEEZER" novices such as myself).
Other H-D forums (in my Humble Opinion) don't seem to recognize that "NOT EVERYBODY IS A MOTOR HEAD". I was trying to get some info on another forum (posted over 2 weeks ago) ....just some general questions about the motor and all I got was wise cracks about my limited (very limited) mechanical knowledge. It's really NO BIG DEAL, as I am the first to "rag" on myself for my limited knowledge. I've already learned a great deal on here, but there is a special language that the motorheads use that takes a while for me to figure out.
I'm one of those guys that just rides (not so much, anymore) and lets the H-D dealer deal with drivetrain issues and/or upgrades.
I recently posted on the twin cam section of the "CVO TECHNICAL" portion here & I'm hoping someone will give me an answer to some of my questions. I feel pretty confident that THIS is the only place where I'll get an answer. They may be stupid questions, but when you don't know, and have heard sooo many conflicting answers (even from the same H-D dealer) it kind of makes me nervous. My FXDWG2 with the little 88 T.C. might be old technology, and NOT up to what's out there, but it's very special to me for many reasons.
Anyway, Thanks for your replies... I used to be a Camaro fanatic (owned 4 from 70 thru 79). My Dad bought a 67 Z-28 (first one in Florida) when I was in the Army. He sent me pics (I remember that the factory supplied headers came in the trunk...they had to be installed after purchase...some kind of GM Factory/Trans-Am Series rule). Had a little 302 in it, but was bad fast according to my little brother. He sold it before I came home as my Mom didn't like the fact that he got 2 speeding tickets the first month he owned it.
