Noticed a number of the people who don't like to hear other's complain and should stay off this site, have some extensive list of modifications done to their bike. Obviously they were not happy with the way the bike came stock and made some changes also. I am not knocking any of them, we all make changes to Individualize our bikes. Some just choose to explain why. Some don't.

A couple rubber bands and some popcicle sticks do wonders...splinters can be an issue, however.....  :huepfenlol2:

It amazes me how many people supposedly?? love their Harley's on this site but constantly bitch about them.  There are a FEW individuals on this site that have posted thousands of times and  no matter what the issue, they always complain about their bikes, how Chitty they run and how Harley doesn't give a rats ass about any of their bikes or customers.  To those few I say, "Get the hell off the site and start a new bitchn site".    You FEW are real downers!!!  Constructive discussion is what the site is for.   Thanks for posting the thread.  I've thought the same for years.

I was going to recommend that Naitram just set up two sites within this one site.  One will be for the realists, the other will be for the Kool-Aid crowd who prefer to just hear the propaganda Harley puts out and gloss over all the other stuff.  They could just post copies of the latest sales pitches from H-D or their favorite aftermarket companies and proclaim them to be gospel, followed by a few hallelujahs and amens.  Each evening a different member of that part of the site would offer up a prayer to the deity otherwise known as Willy G.

While we negative folks may irritate you, it's the negative folks who actually drive change, not the Kool-Aid drinkers.  That was true throughout my career in industry, and I don't see that changing.  The suck-ups who blindly spouted the company line and told the boss whatever he wanted to hear may have gotten the best raises and promotions, but the realists were the ones that actually fixed problems and made the company money.  No really good manager wants just suck-ups surrounding him, he also wants the folks who will tell him how it really is before he gets blindsided.  I suspect that even Harley-Davidson executives might occasionally want to hear the truth from their customers and ex-customers.

Anyhow, have a wonderful and cheery day, and if your perfect Harley decides to leave you on the side of the road just remember your words here and do your best to put a positive spin on the experience.  No negative thoughts or words allowed.

MAN, Jerry...I would gladly buy the beer to sit down and explore this topic with you!

I have seen that attitude many times in my IT career doing account management... representing customers who complain about the software, taking their input back to engineering, and being met with cold stares and indifference... at multiple software companies.

I've even been accused of not "selling the positives" about the products enough to my customers... as if that would somehow overcome everything they say, and make their complaints about bugs and missing functionality magically disappear!

I wish I could say how I really feel, just don't have the ability.  If you have a dealer that says he is not aware of any issues with the 110 motor and you believe that,  there is no help for you.  I'm sorry but look at the poor guys that had the 07's,  some had numerous motors among a pile of other issues.  Granted the newer models have had a pile of upgrades which were the results of failures that we had to live through.  Jerry nailed it again and that is the real world.  You don't have to like it or even believe it now, but you will some day!

It is unfortunate that some dealers continue to plead ignorance about some of these things, hoping the owner will accept "they all do that" and go away.

I'm fortunate that my dealer is not among those

I agree, love my 09 FLHTCUSE4. 42,000 miles with no problems and still going strong. It's like most things in life, people who are happy don't say much, and those who are unhappy make enough noise for a hundred.

Good one Jerry! People should not read these comments as bitchn' but as informative information! For the record my 09' had no major problems until I blacked out and hit the pickup truck. (may it rest in peace), it was the best bike I had ever owned.

Maybe grc has a good idea for real? The mood could be different if there was a separation of the threads about accessories and modifications for cosmetic or comfort then a completely different chapter for problems and their corrections. That way if you want to read about some new item or someone's idea you would not be brought down with complaints and on the other hand if you want a solution for a problem you don't have to filter through all the other stuff to find a solution.
Or maybe threads could be marked with symbols such as a glass of Kool-Aid for feel good threads and then a glass of wine for the complaints...... :huepfenlol2:

I do agree with others that many people go to a website for solutions to a problem but others join a site for the sharing of positive experiences and a sense of belonging. It is also true to me that first the majority of owners don't join a website then out of those who do, most don't have problems and may not post a lot because they are out riding and as other have said people are NOT going to post "I went out today and the bike ran great!"
Just my .02 but I think part of the negativity to a CVO is due to expectations, if you are convinced that a CVO is the top of the line (and back in the day hand assembled) and you paid top dollar over a standard bike you expect it to be flawless. Also think of the comparison that if you bought a $40,000 car and had to spend a couple thousand dollars just to get it to run right you would never tolerate that. I wonder how many Harley owners just turn the key and ride it without attempting any performance upgrades?

Enough of this kind of talk.  We're all different and have different opinions.  One thing I've learned on this site is that it's the PEOPLE that I've met and not the "souped" up bikes that really make the difference.   Come to a GTG (MV'13) and see a real attitude among us brothers.
