Hi Rooster,

We both know about stuck exhaust valves, a gift we both share from a common head porting company which could not keep the valve stem seals in place.  Breaks rocker support plates too.

Bike30 was right on point with his reply "Sticking valve guides (typically exhaust) in aircraft engines can cause cam and lifter failure via increased loading via friction from oil and exhaust deposits"
Hi JPB, yes and twice for me. the second time the exhaust valve on the rear cyl was stuck in open position and he had to beat it loose while I watched.

without going thru 7 pages of posts (could have been stated earlier) the 110 valve springs have WAY too much spring pressure, got a set of AV&V beehive springs & a set of S&S lifters, youll never have this prob

Kirby have you not read the other forums?? I have seen where its clearly stated that the valve springs are nothing more than a internet myth..   :confused5:  I agree too much pressure.

That's right.  You can't believe anything you read on the internet about Harleys.  Just ask you local dealer if you want confirmation.   ;D

I guess Harley decided they needed gorilla sized springs to close the valves when they were bound up in the crappy guides.  It would be typical of Harley to ignore the real problem and screw something else up in an attempt to "fix" a problem.  Lighter valves (oops, no can do, $$) and a cam profile that doesn't encourage lofting and pounding, guides that are properly machined from premium materials (oops again, $$), and suddenly you don't need ridiculous valve spring pressures and you don't pound the daylights out of the valve train.  DUH!

You do know that you just described at least two private cam designers right??   ;D

The issue becomes that its posted on the net and you get things that just must be so.. One shop states that ( X lifter is the one) ok so I ask have you tried Z lifter and if so with what cam how many miles etc. But we know that is not how it really goes. I read these posts every day shop A is the # 2 seller of yada yada product so it must be great. and since that is now a fact,... you must use these springs due to the fact I use lost of them .. Good or bad it does make it tough for people to get real accurate tested data today.

Seems like the best way to buy a new Harley these days would be to order without the motor that way you could have someone build the right one the right way and just how you want it. Oops just woke up from that dream. ::)

Esp has approved a rebuild inclusive of a new crank and cases

And today is the 21st.  So it took them ten days just to tell you that, yes, even though you paid up front for expensive service contract they'll finally get around to telling you that they'll fix your broken motor.  What's worse is that's there is probably a sense of thankful relief that they did it.

In the time that some shops might have had the job just about done you've finally been told they'll actually fix the bike under the contractually stipulated terms of an agreement that's been in place since you bought the bike.

Will they pull the oil pan and the cooler to thoroughly clean and flush?

On November 23rd 2011 my 2012 Hot Citrus SESG was delivered to my home. The sales person informed me during the document signing process that I could purchase a ESP for a considerable amount of money at that time or anytime during the factory warranty. I chose to not be a willing participant in any ESP because it seems to me that the customer, you & I, pay these people to tell us what we can do with & to an already very expensive product & then if there is a problem with the product, we are expected to smooch their rears & beg them to provide a service that I would have already paid them for in full, up front. The ESP provider should be difficult with the MOCO for not engineering & building a better product, not the purchaser of the actual problematic product.
The other issue that kept me from participating in a ESP is that if there were to be any stock parts failure, it is well known that the ESP will only replace deficient stock parts with more deficient stock parts, from a common sense standpoint this is unacceptable & I couldn't bring myself to drink the ESP's Kool-aid, I've already drank too much of the MOCO's. I love my bike & would not trade it for anything but I'll take the $ I didn't spend on a ESP & spend it on the bike & handle things myself.
