Title: Any proud owners want to share pics/reviews?
Post by: cooterbrown on September 08, 2013, 03:25:40 PM
For those of us who are waiting on our bikes to show in the near future or the folks who are sitting on the sidelines - how about some pics and reviews from proud new owners...

I only have 160 miles on the bike after getting it home last night but my over all first impression is WOW, my last bike, 2011 CVO Ultra Classic, was a great
ride but my 2014 rides better, handles better, is more comfortable, and, and...  It did pee on my garage floor after my first 50 mile ride, but it was a very small
amount that came from the overflow. I checked the coolant level a few hours after it had a chance to cool down and it was right on the cool mark so all I can figure
is it was over filled to begin with. I put another 110 miles on it after that in two trips and it didn't leave a drop so all is good. The info system is complex but not difficult to navigate and set when your in your drive way. On the fly adjustments are easy as well once you figure the system out. It is difficult to explain how much
better this bike rides compared to my 2011, it just does. If your on the fence go ride one, I got good money for my old bike and paid MSRP for the new one and for
me it was well worth it. Since I ride two up 95% of the time I need to add that my wife really likes it too, her only complaint is there is to much room in the
rear set now...lol... I also got about an hour of night riding in and the new lights are a great improvement too.

Beautiful bike CVOgliderider! :drink:  How are the front shocks in terms of smoothness and secondly, is the dive gone at stops?  How do you like the seat vs the 2011?

Front shocks are smooth and improved, I really have to get on the front brake to get it to dive. The seat is great, much more comfortable and saddle like.

What wheels are those?

The wheels are the "Blade" wheels, page 697 in the 2014 parts book.

Here are some cell phone pics of mine.  Picked her up Thursday and have put about 380 miles on her. Great bike.  My first impressions are all good.  Coming from an '11 Ultra Limited this is a better bike period in all ways.

That blue is awesome looking and I would have gone that way too but my 11 was blue/cobalt. I totally agree with you that the 14 bikes are hands down nicer bikes
than the 11's.  :2vrolijk_21:

Quit making comments about how much better the '14 is compared to the '11!!!  Please, stop or I will have to swap out my '11 for a '14.  Tell me more about those leaks.  :)

I don't have a review per se at this point, but I would like to share my experience with the new CVO.

Rode up to my brother's place in CO on his '85 Sport Glide {FXRT} for Labor Day.  Electrical problems on the way, but managed to limp into town.
What to do?  Didn't want to spend the time wrenching and I sure wasn't going to fly home.  I know, go ahead and pull the trigger on a new bike!   :bananarock:

Walked into the dealer on Labor Day and said I want "that one".  After the initial "Yeah, right" look, we got down to business.  Drove out later that day and commenced breaking her in.  Spent a day putting around CO and NM before heading back to TX.  Hit 500 miles somewhere around Taos and then it was "Yes Sir".  I mean NICE!  :orange:

Taos, NM to San Antonio straight thru.  Best ride ever.  I've ridden them all and I am here to tell you, this bike was made for putting the miles on.

Local dealer hadn't even seen one yet.  Man, it's really fun playing show and tell.

I am amping to get pipes on this girl.  Read on the board about the Fullsac x pipe, etc. (Full credit when I can find the member's post again - great post and sold me on the Fullsacs)  I am really thinking of going this way to preserve the stock CVO look.  Besides, I think the Laser heat shields will look nice and different enough from all the V&H guys.

Anyway, ramble, ramble, ramble - here's a pic....

The Longhorn is Tumbleweed.  He provides security while we go to the watering hole....

Thanks for the post.  Ronnie races on ole' Tumbleweed but seldom wins against the bikes!  Lukenbach is a nice ride through the hill country with live music and cold beverages.

Thanks Scottie.

My new buddy has a brand new Limited with the same color scheme - sans "Dragon Stripes".  The list of things and $$s to get it the way he wants it (like a CVO) keeps growing.  He was doing OK for a while, so he  says, but when he saw my SE he went into depression  :-\.

At least he can shift now after putting on the SE extended shift levers...

I may take the time to compile the differences just to show the "$12k - That's too much" crowd just what a CVO'er gets for the premium price.  My first estimation is that if one bought all of the goodies separately, it would be way more expensive that going "all in" from the start.  The bigger heads and the wheels alone probably go for $7k.

M; It does not make sense to buy a Ultra Limited and then try to make it look like a SE Limited. I would have bought the SE if it had fit my budget but I am more than thrilled with my Ultra Limited. I am only going to add the XM Radio module that came with the SE. I am perfectly happy with everything else; except for the mufflers. Took the bike out today with the wife, did 170 miles, the bike performed so well; people that own a 2014 understand what I am talking about. I was also real happy that she did not dump any coolant; my bike is completely fixed.

The only issue that I must "re-learn" is braking. Coming off a 2007 SE Ultra without any ABS; the brakes on the 2007 were nothing in comparison. When I need to stop I tend to use my front brake more than needed, it brings the bike to a quick stop causing my wife to slide forward. After years of riding without any electronic help this is something new for me to adjust to.

My money is on "AMEDD_SFC" being the first to paint his mail slot, and he'll most likely do the TourPac light frame at the same time.   :2vrolijk_21:

The way I figure it he'll just ride his horny friend while his Harley is at the painter.   ;D

The last, late model bike I drove was a 13 road glide.  That was a beautiful bike.  The differences with the 14's is incredible, however.  The Limiteds are gorgeous - just like yours.  Beautiful bike.

I was just pointing out that even tho there is a premium up front for the CVO that some folks think is not justified that in the end it would be a lot more to "piece together" the goodies on the CVO.  OTOH, starting with an Ultra or Limited gives one a lot of options for upgrades and bling without being tied to the MoCo's choices.  I really wanted the 110 and knew I would be going for chrome levers, etc. so I bit the bullet up front. Also, it was easier to just get the upgrades in the purchase 'cause I will be hearing it from the wife for everything else!!    :D

I look forward to hearing what you do with the pipes. The stock pipes (even on the CVO) are too quiet and restrictive.  The SE pipes are a waste IMHO.  They are more expensive without being much better (if at all) than standard stock pipes.

Best Regards,

Mark

Chrome maybe?   Probably a little too pimp.  The mail slot plastic is a little "satin-ey".  Not sure how paint would take.  Maybe someone will come out with AM parts.  Not a big priority for me tho.

Many see the mail slot as an abomination.  I'm OK with it as far as looks.  It really does a good job of reducing wind buffeting, tho.  Like OP - must have pipes!  I'm calling  Fullsac next week to get the ball rolling. I'm gonna do the install myself.

Best Regards,

M

I managed to get a decent pic with good lighting this weekend.  This is on TX 377, one of the three (twisted) sisters around Leakey.

We had a rally in Bandera over the weekend.  The weather was awesome.  We are starting our prime riding weather with clear skies and temps in the mid to high 80's.

Hey Mark,

Isn't it amazing what a couple of beers and $$ can do.  New bling looks good... You know that mail slot would look good painted as well, I know you know.  ;D

Have a couple more beers and just see what happens.

Enjoy your beautiful new ride.

Congrats.

Earlier in this thread we had some good pics of the blue bike, how about some more pics of the red.
Up close, more like the ones that were taken for the blue.

I am thinking about getting a red one but would like to see more pics.

Thank you, Mark the :bananarock: man and maybe a :cherry: dood also.

Not wanting to cast a shadow on the new buyers but this thread is for Pics and reviews and I for one keep looking for these but seems we are going to have many pages of "just ordered my new bike and waiting"  type posts and no pics and reviews.  :soapbox: Sorry don't mean this in a bad way.

Ask and you shall receive....

1200 miles so far and it has a lot of goodies on it.  It will take my non-cyber mind a while to learn all of the things that come with the info center but man, it does all kinds of stuff  Ride and motor are prototypical HD (not that it is bad) and coming from a built up 103 the power on the 110 has surprised me.  Having never ridden a 110, I guess I didn't expect all of the power to be at lower rpm and have found that I do not like the 255 cams and all of the power being delivered below 3500rpm.  Gonna change the cams soon.

Even with the cat, the heat coming off the bike does not seem close to my RGU 103.  I wanted to get rid of the cat anyway and I put the V&H Power Duals with Rinehart 4" mufflers.  That reduced the heat even more.  Once I get the S&S 570 cams installed and the thing tuned with the SEPST that should reduce the heat even more and make it run much better.

Thanks for more pics of the red bike.

Upon closer inspection it looks like the inner fairing of the red bike is painted the lighter red and matches
the top of the tank. :2vrolijk_21: I wonder why Harley decided to paint the inner fairing of the blue bike
the darker blue that doesn't match the tank and IMO does not look as good as if they had painted it the
lighter blue. :nixweiss: Anyone have an answer??? IMO paint scheme should be the same on both bikes
just different colors.

You have to color match the rear LED tour pack light. Flat black looks out of place on a 40k CVO. :)
I was thinkig the same thing for mine except I'd rather have chrome than painted.

I like the black molding. I think it gives a nice contrast. I think chrome would look out of place, bit i'd have to see it.

I agree 100%... I too believe the blue inner fairing should be the same as the top of the tank like the others.

I personally also believe the MoCo made a mistake is painting the lowers on the '08 Duracells copper, which is unlike any others from any year!  They always make the lowers match the lower section of the tanks as they should be, but for some reason with the Duracells they did it differently.

So, shortly after purchasing my bike, over the winter (Jan 09) it made mine right, IMO.

You did the right thing by painting them black. It now fits the paint on the rest of the bike. :2vrolijk_21:

Why can't Harley paint designers see this?

They just need to hire me as a paint designer and we could get this right! ;D

Yep, no doubt about it Kingspoke... That's a beautiful bike you have and the lowers look great (and correctly done) in silver, can you imagine what they would look like in blue?  Like I mentioned, I believe all other bikes are painted correctly, except the Duracells for some strange reason.  :nixweiss:  Then again, that is just my humble opinion.

Yep, chrome would be great too but the HD website indicates the 2014 CVO Limited comes with color matched wraparound LED taillights. I copied this right off the website....

Color-matched Wraparound LED Running and Brake Taillight

The back end of the CVO™ Limited model demonstrates once again the premium style and innovative engineering you'll find with the Custom Vehicle Operations™ at Harley-Davidson®. The taillight features an integrated color-matched wraparound brake light for a clean look. And with the LEDs, you get additional style, increased visual footprint at night and long-lasting light.

... And that is one more reason why I think the MoCo rushed to give us more with the 2014's and ran out of time to complete a few things.

Makes you wonder who or what is incorrect?  The website also says the AC should be the Ventilator, but they show both types of intakes. Is the website wrong or where the bikes improperly fitted?  Seems like a huge disconnect between different departments at Moco.  I wonder what the dealer would say if someone took their bike back and asked for the color-matched lighting like shown on the website?
Title: Re: Any proud owners want to share pics/reviews?

I think they should be able to take it back to the dealer and demand a color matched one since
it is "in print" that way on the website.

Now someone hurry and print that off before the MoCo changes the website!!!

Overall the bike is awesome. It appears that the heat is a lot less on the rider now; however, here in Ohio it has not been hot in a long time to get a real test. Only have 180 miles on her and all appears to be great. I did a 100 MPH blast the other day and the bike fees more stable and planted to the ground than the  13-FLHTCUSE-8 I traded in. Wind turbulence appears to be great for the driver; however, my wife is complaining that she has more wind buffeting now. I did notice the new daymaker headlight does not have enough side light when in the twisties. Without the driving lights and / or with the high beam on you loose all of your side light when in corners. The light projects a very wide flat beam and it cuts off the sides of the road  when tipping into corners, I took the bike back to the dealer and they charged me $50 to reprogram the ECM to allow the driving lights to stay on with the high beams. This fixed the problem and I see great now. My only complaint is the radio.  I'm having an issue where we do not have enough volume to hear (Radio, CB, Intercom) in our helmets clearly at Highway speed. On the old bike, we had plenty of volume and some to spare to hear each other clearly in our headset's at any speed. Dealer claims this is normal and looking into the issue with the MOCO.

I tried to add pictures here and I kept getting an error message. Will try again.

Yzernie, How do like the power dual/Rinehart combo? I am looking at the same combo, I had V&H power duals and monster rounds on my 2011, it had great sound but a little loud after 3 or 4 hours on the road.

Same combo I had on my Road Glide Ultra.  Until it gets the cams and tune the sound is ok and the stereo is easily heard.  The cams and tune will make it a little louder.  The Rineharts have the stock 2.25" baffles in them and if it gets to loud after the work I'll get the 2" baffles.  Also seems to be a bit less wind noise on these because of the fairing vent.  Went by the shop today to get the Front Fork Air Baffle so the goatee wouldn't beat the hell outta my face at highway speeds but it will not fit on the 14 because of the way the brake lines are run.  Hope they will have one for it soon otherwise I'll be going through all of the wife's hair ties soon!!!

I had an interesting conversation the other day with a 30+ year tech...  He informed me that "the intent of the twin-cooled engine was NOT to make the bikes run cooler.  In fact is was only meant to keep the new "high output" engines running at the same temp as the previous engine's temps".

They wanted more power with no more heat.  So I guess we can say - mission accomplished!

The 2" power cores are really nice.  Not loud unless you twist it hard.  Bike has a very deep bass tone.  It sounds really good.   At cruising speed, they quiet down nicely.   I still have the original headpipe on at this time.  That may change over the winter but, for now, I'm very happy with the bike,  ... only exception is the radio issue.

I put all of the stock baffle material back in.   I highly recommend that you purchase the sleeves that Fullsac sells as well.  Pain in the butt to install however, once its in, the cores slip right in.  With the baffle sleeves, the baffle material really gets compressed against the outer wall of the cans.  I'm pretty sure that's what delivers the deep bass note.  The 2" was just right for me.   If you can tolerate a little more tone, they also have 2.25" cores available.   I have a Stainless Steel headpipe from FuelMoto that I removed from my 2010 FLHTK prior to trading it.  I plan on installing it over the winter.  I'm sure that will increase the volume slightly.

Well, I'm not as proud as I once was.  At 1380 miles I pulled into my garage and she puked coolant all over.  I road to dealer, parked her, and she puked again in the service writer bay. :(

Likewise.  I saw a blue one like that about 4 weeks ago.  Blue bikes make me weak in the knees. :nervous:  But seeing a big orange puddle underneath one has a unique way of putting the cure on that.

Good luck getting it sorted out.

Should not be hard to fix as long as they have the part. It is a plumbing plastic / welding thing.

Hey it's on the ground. I once piloted an aircraft that chit itself at 18K feet.

We'll do, trust me, I'll be updating everyone on how this goes.  It really is a shame on so many levels. I really feel bad for no only me, but Harley Davidson.  To make a statement like they did with the 2014's only to have them show up at dealers puking all over the place.  As not only an owner of two Harley's, but an investor in their stock, I am very concerned with how Moco handles these issues.

Never heard of this happening with the V-Rod.

I hope this makes you feel better; my 2014 Limited did the same thing and the dealer was able to make the repair. In my case, they think it was the pump that caused the problem. Good luck to you, please keep us informed as you proceed.

I wonder if many of us die hard Harley owners have a loyalty that is somewhat akin to abusive spouse syndrome? We buy a bike, we pay top dollar and for the first few weeks we experience euphoria. Then a few things begin to go wrong and we become disappointed or even get mad. We take the bike to the dealership, get it fixed and HD promises to never abuse us again. Once more we experience euphoria with our bikes. Then a dealership pisses us off or something else goes wrong and we swear never ever again! Only to keep coming back time after time after time after time. HD knows that no matter how much they abuse us we will keep coming back for more. LOL

I think this is true for all toys, I had exotic cars, airplanes, and boats I had the same dealings with. At least the HD is easy to get to the shop  :2vrolijk_21:

I read that when you shut these twin cooled engines down you should use the kill switch then wait till the fans shut down (about 20 sec.or so) then turn off the ignition...

I don't want one till spring anyway. It would sit in the garage till then here in Wisconsin anyway.
I sure hope they get the kinks worked out by then? I still don't understand how they can test these
for sooooooo mannyyyyy miles, then put them in production and bang, BIG PROBLEMS!!!!

Picked our red CVO Limited up in San Francisco on Friday and drove home 530 miles to Yorba Linda spent a lot of time on Coast Hwy 1 (two days to get home we stopped a lot )- Can some one direct me on how to post pics having trouble getting them posted. The weather was absolutely perfect rode home in a tee shirt... the bike performed very well with no issue's knock on wood - nice power,  very comfortable and love the infotainment center - my wife loved the ride and the bike turns heads and also get's a lot of questions. No complaints so far and it looks great in the garage parked next to it's older brother 09 Fat Bob CVO.

I'm sure if he walked on the deal they would refund his deposit.  If they do not, then he paid $500 to find out not to do business with that dealer.

Bought a bike from Dudley Perkins, eh?  I bought my first bike (a Harley of course) at Dudley Perkins in 1977, an XLCH Sportster and absolutely loved that bike, 2nd favorite of all time next to my 2012 CVO Ultra.

Now, posting pics, go to photobucket and create an account and/or login.  Upload you photo(s) by clicking the blue upload button, and once your photo is uploaded, click on the IMG (image) button on the lower right "Links to Share this photo" box.  Return to the reply box on CVO Harley and then right click where you want the image to appear (e.g. before or after your written dialogue).  You can also re-size and edit your photo (add text, etc.) as well.

I think the answer to that is pretty simple.  The pre-production bikes that all the testing takes place on are put together with pre-production components - possibly US made, even.  Then when the green light for production is given, the MoCo, in their continuing quest to get the cheapest components on the planet, to sell at several thousand percent mark up, give the contract for manufacturing to the lowest Chinese bidder.

I am thinking about getting a 2014 "twin cooled" bike.  Although there are not many out right now I would be interested in hearing about good and bad points to the bike.
How is the cooling?  Does the passengers right leg still get extremely hot?  How does the new fairing design & windflow work?  How do you like the new display?  Are the tour & saddlebags roomier as advertised?  Any other info. appreciated.

I traded in my 2007 SE Ultra on a new 2014 Ultra Limited the first of September. Just had the 1,000 mile service completed. The only issue I have had was the coolant leak issue. My dealer took care of the problem, has been flawless since. The bike runs cooler and does not ping, bone stock. The bike is a winner, more power, better brakes, great new bags and fairing design. The fairing vent really works, improved handling and comfort. Its the best new Harley I have ever owned. My wife has been riding with me for close to 25 years and she loves the room and comfort. She does not feel any heat issues with this bike. Take one for a test ride; prepare to be impressed.

I got the 2014 CVO Limited.  Prior to that I had a '10 and '11 Ultra Limited.  The '14 is without a doubt, hands down better than both the prior FLHTK's I owned. Actually still own the '11. The new bike rides better both in the turns at high speed and at low speed, especially in very low speed maneuvers.  I ride 2-up a lot, so my Wife can attest to the bigger back seat being better.  She said the heat on her legs is probably 25% lower on the '14.  I notice a lot more room between us. It feels like she's not crowding me so much.  The new faring is nice.  I wish it had the same height windshield as my FLHTK's so I could have a direct comparison, but I will say the lower shield is easy to see over so that's nice.  The buffeting is minimal although I never really had too much on my other bikes either.  The heat on the new bike is less.  I don't feel my right leg burning up so much now.  The new bags and one touch latches are AWESOME!!!  The new tour pack is noticeably larger yet appears smaller visually. I really like the Infotainment system even though it's jacked up with glitches that I hope firmware updates fix soon. You can read about the radio glitches everywhere.  My only complaint besides the radio glitches is the recent coolant puking I experienced at 1380 miles. Just know you're taking a chance buying a first year product.  You won't regret a '14 if MoCo comes up with a fix for all the puking bikes.

Bike was at the dealer since last Friday.  They just called and said the bike fixed.  All they did was fill with coolant, leave the radiator cap off, run bike for 5 minutes, shut the bike down, install cap, test ride, and they say no leaks.  They repeated the steps twice.  No parts were replaced and they did not perform any TSB.  I'll pick her up to night an see how it goes from here.

I believe my vents were open and the night it happended it was 89 degs. for my 20 mile ride home from work. I do know the fans did not kick on that day.  I believe had the fans kicked on, mine never would have puked.

Hey Guys, I was at the local H-D Dealer the other day and a H-D rep. was there i overheard them talking about this very same problem he said to make sure the pressurized radiator cap thats in the top of the lowers were on tight, meaning one tab is pointing to the front of back and of course the other one is pointing to the back of bike, For some reason a lot of them left factory not installed correct.

Just tring to help out  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I have to clarify something. When I picked up my bike the guy told me something completely different than the tech on the phone told me.  He said what was wrong is the bike needed to be purged.  So, they filled with coolant and with the bike off ran the fans and pump for 5 minutes to purge.  Took for test ride, and did it all a 2nd time.  Took for another test ride.  Between them and me riding it home today, the bikes been ridden about 30 miles with no puking or leaks.  When I got home I hit the kill switch and the fans turned on immediately for like 8 seconds.
I'll keep you all updated in the future.

I must be one of the lucky ones.  Mine has never leaked coolant but the Infotainment system will take my non-cyber mind a while to learn!!  My dealer did the update for the Infotainment system for me.

I picked mine up on up on  Oct 5 .  I like the bike so far only put about 200miles on it. I found it surprising that the radio fade issue wasn't fixed.  I also had a issue with the radio not coming on, I started the bike and it didn't boot up, shut it off turned it on , tried every button. I figured Oh well. I rode the bike about 40 min to A restaurant tried it again still nothing.  When we came back out about 30 min later turned the ignition switch on and the radio worked normally. I don't know what  that was all about but it does concern me. I traded a 13 cvo on this bike because wasn't happy about quite a few thing with it. I was wondering when I purchased the 13 it came with the garage door remote box and a battery tender I didnt get these items with the 14. Did anyone else get these items? Thanks for the great site it has helped me out a lot.

Mine didn't come with a batter tender, but I did get a Garage Door Opener Receiver.  The Garage Door Opener Transmitter is built into the faring.  My garage door receiver I never could get to work, so I just use my normal clicker.  MoCo is aware of of all the Infotainment glitches / errors and they will all be resolved on future firmware updates.  Be preparred if you have an iphone 5 and have downloaded Ios 7, the new radio doesn't like that very much.  A fix for that will be in the future as well.

Battery tender connection should be under the left side cover?? hardwired from the factory.

I got the garage door opener as well.  All touring bikes come with battery tenders.  Its in the left side panel.  Look very closely, it could be tucked in there pretty good.

1400 miles and so far purrrfect!!!  Just returned to pa. From a trip to pikes peak. (Trailered the bikes out because we really just didn't want to ride thru a 1000 miles of interstate and corn fields)  Traded my 09 cvo ultra and what a difference. This is by far the best bike Harley has ever built!

Will try to put on a few hundred mikes this weekend and see if it holds up.

As of Yesterday, we no longer own a 2008 FLHTCUSE...and for the first time in 10 years, no CVO Classic Electra-glides...because we swapped papers on a new 2014 CVO Limited!  Bike is still at the dealer but I hope to get it home this Saturday if weather cooperates.  Until I can take some real pictures here is a collage of the dealer supplied pics.

Now to decide what to do about our Bushtec that is color matched to the 2008.

Beautiful bike Bill.
A friend of mine bought the same and it looks great.
Brian is right about the trailer.
Sell it = lose a bundle, buy a new one = spend a bundle or have yours painted and use the money you save for your first trip.

Thanks All!  Looking forward to attending another GTG in 2014 so hope to see a few of you again!

As for the trailer, I am good with the Silver/Platinum option, Anne on the other hand wants it matched again!

Bring ing it home today, here we are stopped for lunch (Sorry for the thumb!).  First impressions:

Windshield vent works
Infotainment is complicated
Heated grips work better than any previous bike...I actually had to turn them down!
Handling good
New Saddlebags a nice improvement
No leaking after two stops

Very Satisfied!

As a proud previous CVO owner I could not leave my 2014 Ultra Limited alone, I have now added most of the upgrades I desired to make me happy. Hope the CVO folks don't mind, just thought some might enjoy seeing a regular Limited with a few of the upgrades. Not trying to make my bike into a CVO; that would cost way more than would make sense. These upgrades stayed within the reason category. Added the slipstream rider and passenger footrest, ventilator air cleaner, airwing rack, CVO dash and fairing trim, slipstream highway pegs, adjustable highway bars, upgraded billet shift linkage, Slipstream shift pegs, shorty antennas, XM module, bag liners, tourpack organizers on the top and sides.

After reading all the posts on this topic and others today my heart is not at the excitement it was a few days ago.
I am waiting to take delivery on my CVO limited next week, waiting for the coolant neck mod to arrive.
The thought of parting with $51,000 for a bike that may make it home without puking coolant makes me very uneasy.
I'm sure there will be a solution to the problem, but for me having to travel 600kms for a round trip to my closest Harley dealer for a fix
is a lot of inconvenience and expense that I'm sure will be at my cost.
I'm conflicted thinking If I should wear the loss of a $500 deposit and wait a year or just go for it. :-\

The motor company just came out with a "program" that is said to fix the coolant leak issue. I believe the coolant leak issue is going to go away now. The early twin cooled bikes came with a filler neck that was constructed of a material that was not up to the task. When the bikes got hot it started to distort and allowed air to get back into the system; I am not a engineer but the end result was a coolant leak. The filler necks are now being replaced with a new one that won't have that issue.

I own a 2014 Ultra Limited ( Had the CVO been in my budget I would have purchased the CVO, you get a lot of extras for your money ), my dealer just installed the new update and I truly believe it will no longer be an issue. The 2014 bikes are really something. I owned a 2007 SE Ultra that I had no desire to sell or trade; once I took a test ride on the new bike I was sold, you will love that new 2014 CVO Limited. The vast, vast majority of those that have purchased a new one have no regrets. I can't say what is best for you just that these new bikes are really something.

Best too ya

If your dealer keeps a $500 deposit because you walked away from a bike that has issues, I'd be looking for a new dealer.  Can't say if I'd walk or not.  I would say that if my dealer offered to refund all my $$$ today, I'd gladly let 'em have the bike back.  With my bike puking a few times and the radio glitches, I don't have a totally warm fuzzy feeling about my bike.  Hopefully yours is fine because they are great bikes minus the issues.

How do you know that the bike he is looking at has issues? I have not had a problem since the filler neck "program" and don't know of any. Wishing to get one's money back while their is a good likleyhood that the coolant leak is behind us sounds more like buyers remorse. Not putting anything down just saying.

I would not wait. Hells no!

I got mine just before the snow started here so I only have 1,000 miles on it, some of them in snow fall.

I had the thermostat housing changed and will in time do the filler neck but mine never had an issue with it so I am not in a hurry.

Love the MC and all the improvement over the "old" stuff.

Heck if you want to wait for a HD that is perfect it will be another 20 years.

I never trailered my MC's. (I actually really dislike seeing a street bike on a trailer) but consider trailer it out of the snow this winter so I can ride it before April.

I don't know.  I meant to say a bike he fears may have issues.  I have no buyers remorse whatsoever. I love my bike, but if the dealer offered to buy it back, they could have it. I'd take the $$$, wait, and buy another one when I was sure they had this leaking/puking crap figured out. I'd just ride my 2011 in the meantime.

That makes sense. Nothing like having a spare. I must admit, when my bike leaked for the third time I got really pissed. Since then I had the opportunity to speak with someone fairly high up at Harley. This person made me feel comfortable with the fact that this issue was of the highest priority and would be corrected. That is all I wanted, I really love the bike. I am comfortable that the filler neck was the cause of our leak issues and that has now been fixed. Harley has a lot riding on our bikes, I think you would agree that this is their future or at least a big part of it.

That is $51,000 AUD which is on current exchange rate $45,700 USD. At the beginning of 2013 it would of been over $51,000 USD.

You can teach an old dog new tricks!

I was poerusing the Owner's Manual and found out the the remote for the saddlebag and tourpac power locks also locks the fork lock if you have it in the "Left" position.

So unless the battery dies you should never have to use the barrel key...no wonder they did away with the Faux Gold key!

from the manual:

Quote
Close the saddlebag and Tour-Pak lids. Secure latches.

If locking the forks, turn the handlebars to the full left position. Rotate the fork lock switch to the LOCKED position. Check that fork lock is engaged by pushing handlebars toward the right.

Press the lock button on the power lock fob. The turn signals flash twice to indicate the vehicle is locked.

To unlock, press the unlock button on the power lock fob. The turn signals flash once to indicate the vehicle is unlocked.

Rotate the fork lock to the UNLOCKED position. Open saddlebags and Tour-Pak as needed.

NOTE:

Rotate the fork lock switch to the locked position before pressing the lock button on the power lock fob. Rotating the switch after pressing the lock button will cause the forks to remain unlocked

I love it!!!

/Bill

Like an idiot when I stopped a couple of times on the way home with the new scoot, I put the barrel key in to lock the fork lock.

I am not sure I like having the run/stop function combined with ignition.  I used to always turn the engine off from the run/stop switch THEN turn off the Ignition.  Got to get used to the radio shutting right off when you turn off the bike...especially if you are on a phone call...

I am not sure I like having the run/stop function combined with ignition.  I used to always turn the engine off from the run/start switch THEN turn off the Ignition.  Got to get used to the radio shutting right off when you turn off the bike...especially if you are on a phone call...

/Bill

If you turn the bike off with the iginition and quickly hit the acccessroy button, the radio will pop back on without rebooting. :)

Dear Scott:

On the dash insert:

a. you mind saying what that cost?
b. do you know if they come in any other pattern, e.g. plain black or unfinished?

My brother was thinking about getting one and having it hydro-dipped.

TIA

Mark

It was something like $85. Does not come in any other style. This is the Same panel found on the CVO ultra. You need to see your parts guy to order. This trim part is not in the parts and accessories book. Good luck.

Picked my CVO Limited up on Friday, an epic journey to get to the dealer, 3.5hr car drive followed by a 4.5 hour train/bus/bus ride to get there in 41 deg C heat, but man was it worth it.
Such an awesome bike, so glad I got it now! My wife and I have planned a 5000 km trip to Queensland in February, cannot wait! :orange:

Congrats on a great looking new ride DownUnder.  :2vrolijk_21:

Have a wonderful trip and riding season ahead of you... Our bikes are in hibernation for awhile here, but hopefully there'll be a few nice days to get out for a ride soon.  Our annual Polar Bear Ride is on New Years day, and hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Ride safe & enjoy!

Nice bike Downunder. You sound a little like me. In live in Port Macquarie and my "local" dealer is in Coffs Harbour nearly two hours away. It's worth the effort to satisfy my Harley addiction. Enjoy the CVO.

Mate, red was the only colour I could get hold of, but really happy with it.

Aussie version doesn't come with the LED tail light, so I've swapped the OE one out for a smoked LED, fitted the smoked indicators and tint screen which all improve the looks (I think). Smoked LEDs for the tour pack are on order.

 :) :)

Damn, I'm sitting here looking out at gale force winds, rain, and snow, temperature 0c, and you mention the Sunshine Coast, my home from home...  :D

This time last year I'd be sitting in Sunshine Beach enjoying Christmas Eve, and this year..... I'm not!!  :(

I have 1400kms on my limited now, 1st service next week which is free in Australia for cvo owners for 2014's.
I cannot express how amazing the 2104 limited is, the comfort, handling, windshield and boombox. all just amazing.
There is a lot of discussion on the colours of the 2014 limited so I thought I should through my two bobs worth in!
Colours or Colors are horses for courses of course and all three colours are fantastic, but in My Opinion, Blue will always be blue, red will always be red, but the
autumn sunset/silver is such a sophisticated colour, the autumn sunset can change from a metallic copper, orange to a deep red depending on the light. Love it, so classy!
The picture here was taken today on a trip with my wife (Wendy) at a town called Greendale in country Victoria Australia, population 400 (including the dogs haha)

Here's a pic of my CVO, which I took delivery of before Christmas.

Have been laid up ill virtually since I took delivery, so haven't taken any out on a ride yet.

Not good having a shiny new bike in the shed and not being able to ride her.

Yes, I put a set of Street Cannons on. No change to the headers, just some fiddling with the tune via a SE Street Performance Tuner.

Sounds nice, hopefully quiet enough not to attract attention.

My 09 CVO Ultra was extremely hot especially in Aussie conditions. I fitted Jackpot headers and it helped a little. I am hoping the new liquid cooled heads make a bigger difference. I test rode a 103 Limited and it had very little heat coming off the engine so I am hoping the 110's are the same. I will probably fit headers to reduce the heat but I am interested to hear from Limited owners to know if the heat is still an issue with the 110's.

Mate, not having owned one before I am probably not the one to comment. I rode the bike in 33 degrees the other day and the right foot was getting a bit warm in traffic, but ok at highway speeds, not much worse than my BMW boxer in fact (which does both feet). Ironically the heat is less of an issue with thick touring boots rather than with the ventilated Alpine Star short boots I normally wear on day rides.

I was still in agony this morning but went out anyway, here is a pic to wet your appetite.

My wife doesn't like pillioning in Summer on any bike, particularly after one trip back from the Snowies when we hit the Putty Rd one stinking day arriving at Singleton with 43 degrees on the gauge. As a couple, we tend to do night rides up to places like Mooloolaba in Summer and keep the longer trips for the middle of the year, although I still ride on my own all year round. Don't get me wrong, you are always aware that here is a fire going on underneath you, I just don't think its an issue unless maybe idling in traffic on a 30+ day, which I don't make a habit of anyway.

You are right, pic was taken on a particular nice twisty road that runs up from Woodford to Maleny. Just started to rain as I was taking the shots, so she's been christened now!

I would not say purple. It's just a dark, dark blue. In sunlight you will see some very minor flake too.  The light blue in sunlight looks spectacular.

Nice bike Blueprint!

I have to admit, after seeing the Red for the 1st time last week my heart sank little with envy.
I only seen and had the choice of the blue or silver or wait 4 months for the red, I opted for the silver.
All good so far just about to clock up 8000 km's.

I see your from port, stayed overnight at the mid pacifc motel there weekend before last on the way back from QLD trip.
Really nice place, the staff at the motel were going on about a popular mountain ride near by which is popular with Harley riders etc.., will try and get back to do it next year.

You will love your new ride.
We did over 5000 ks on our trip, have nearly 8000ks on it now. Now getting over 400ks on a  full tank. Off to Melbourne tomorrow 300ks will do it with no stops, so comfortable, wouldn't have considered that on my previous Road King.

CVO medallion on the tourpak lid looks nice - is that the one from the fuel tank door?  (Obviously the fender one won't fit because of the curve in it...)

Yes it Is.
Its exactly the same size and too look at side by side but the fender one has the curve.
The fuel door medallion is half the cost of the fender medallion.
You also need to provide your VIN to be able to order CVO medallions. (well you do in Australia)

Yup, same here.  Both are a ripoff price, but it's a joke when you compare the price of one to the other!

Port is a fantastic place to live. The ride you speak of is up the  Oxley Highway to a cafe at a place called Gingers Creek. We'll worth the detour if you come back this way. Love your number plate. I have GLIDE on my Ultra and they will go on the CVO. Did you remove your cats? My 09 CVO was very hot and I'm hoping the twin cooled isn't as bad.

Haven't removed the cats yet, I just put in Fullsac baffles but I will remove them before next summer.
It gets really hot on the right leg. Did a cruise up and back the esplanade in Hervey Bay on a hot day in a pair of shorts and the heat from the exhaust actually burnt my right leg (only going 50-60km/hr).
I don't think the water cooling does much at all IMO.

My bike will be here and ready Tuesday! Now if only the snow would go away I could ride it.

It's about time! My bike is here and getting a stage one and a full exhaust system put on. Here is the stock pic before the work. When it is done will post a new pic. But I had to put it on now that it is official.

Heres mine, Must have been the dealers first in, and so shot this and posted it on their site, no delivery room here but they do have a loud bell they ring as they shout your name in the celebration  :orange: though when you buy one of these it does make the finance office feel like a labor room :nervous:
