Why do you and so many others keep buying their "crap"?
Why do you keep drinking the Kool-Aid?  You've read and commented about TraHog's 117 kit experience on the "Harley 117 Drop on Build in progress" thread, as well as other situations, so you know it's not just a one-time deal.

I haven't bought any of their crap for over 5 years.  I use aftermarket parts whenever possible.

It's a shame it pisses you off, but if you can't stand to read about bad experiences, you might have to stop using this forum.  Just as in life, we learn a lot more from mistakes than from smooth results.  I'm glad you've had good experiences, but pull your head out of the sand and take note of the problems as well.  Maybe it will help you some day.

Yeah, HD comes out with "crap" sometimes. Been there too. But then you go on to say it's "probably on purpose, to save themselves money and, as a bonus, causing us to pay 2 or 3 times to fix their F-U.  I'm firmly convinced this is their corporate strategy to boost profits at our expense---multiple times." Pretty wild if you ask me. Maybe you're the one who should stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

RoadDawg, how does the motor sound? Any piston noise on cold start up? Thanks.
BTW, you now have a boat load of torque.  :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, some noise when cold, but the motor sounds nice.  A little more lopey than the 110. The torque is so much more noticeable than before, especially in 6th gear.

To clear this up as best as possible from what I know now,and still have not heard from my dealer. As of right now With the tq plate that mine was checked with it is not the right one for this kit ,my dealer does not have the correct one as of now ,So still waiting. But On my end no way of knowing for sure if they are good or not.

I get a tick on cold starts but it doesn't last. Pretty sure I had it with the 110 as well.

I talked to the mechanic about mine WRT this...he actually pointed out that as it sits now with the base map (which as I said before, he's pretty impressed with) the throttle blade slaps open and closed acting as an idle air control valve.  There's a noticeable tick tick at idle and sure enough it corresponds with the blade opening and closing maintaining idle.  He's going to try to smooth that out.  Try covering the intake and see if it's harder to hear - could be the TB.

I kind of wish there was a separate idle air control valve to smooth that out.

I've been reading the threads on these 117" builds and have been wondering when that subject would come up. I don't recall reading where anyone doing these builds has checked or mentioned the crank runout or if they had done anything to the bottom end at all.  :nixweiss:

I'm doing a S&S rotating assembly and the Timken conversion. That has always been in my plan even before the 117 build came up.

Be Safe
