...want to sell me yours at a discount so you can get the powdercoated/diamond cut version?   ;D ;)
I might...after I use the thing long enough to decide that I like it.  That diamond cutting should be good for an additional 3 hp I'll bet...and it will run cooler...and off the scale on the blingometer...man! I've almost talked myself into it already :-\

Hot Rods Bike Works  is claiming they got  8 HP and 10 TQ out of a filter change on a shovelhead!!!
5 percent on a 97" S&S      If you look at the dyno sheet the largest gain comes at the top end

Makes you wonder

WHAT THEY SAY:

The more polymers in the oil, the
wider the potential viscosity range—
but there is a drawback. Polymer is
plastic and can build up inside the
engine, preventing the rings from
seating in the cylinders, and creating
heavy deposits in the heads. For that
reason, multi-grade oils with a wide
viscosity range (such as 10W-40 and
20W-50) are generally not
recommended by Pure Power!!

WHAT THEY DO:
They use their 15-40 VTwin oil for the Hot Rod test???

Since deciding not to use these cleanable SS oil filter, I found what appears to be a good alternative in throwaway canister filters. You all know I'm an S&S proponent. I feel the same way about S&S stuff as many of you feel about Zippers and Freedom. This is new from S&S. I saw it a few months ago and kinda forgot about it. Now I think it's time for a try. I'm ordering some tomorrow.

From the S&S site:

NEW! S&S OIL FILTERS
S&S oil filters are constructed in a sturdy steel canister which houses the finest filtering media and internal components available. The canister is slightly smaller in diameter than stock filters to make them easier to remove and install. These filters are designed with a direct bypass valve that routes bypass oil directly to the filter exit which minimizes the amount of contaminants carried to the engine in the unfiltered bypass oil, since the oil is not allowed to pick up contaminants by flowing over the \"dirty\" side of the filter media, as it is in some competitive filters.

The filter media used in S&S oil filters has been selected to trap the smallest possible particles while maintaining the least oil flow restriction. The nominal particle capture size is smaller than that of stock filters while the resistance to oil flow is nearly the same.
Authorized S&S dealers should contact their Customer Support representative and refer to part numbers 31-4101 (black) and 31-4102 (chrome) for the 1984-1999 big twin version or part numbers 31-4103 (black) and 31-4104 (chrome) for the 1999-later big twin version.

Thought I'd pass it on. Hoist! 8)

Ok, this filter cannister setup does have major bling-ness going for it.  Throw in the diamond cutting and it could be over the top.  But there was still some question about the effectiveness of the filter itself that I'd want resolved before going in to service.

Unfortunately it also still doesn't help the mess factor.  It'll still dump oil down on the motor mount just like the stock cannister filter does.  Someone needs to make something that's functional, beautiful and perfect.....  (not like I ask for much).

Well, after looking at it on my bike some more, I've decided against the diamond cut version.  It is installed immediately above and actually looks like it was made to match the chrome voltage regulator, so I've decided to like it just the way that it is.

Here is a photo of one of the filters installed on my bike.  The results from my official SAE corrected dynobuttometer indicates a solid increase of 8 hp & 9 tq., :P with a 9.1 increase on the blingometer scale. ;D  Seriously, it is a quality made piece, and looks great too...I sure hope that it filters as good as they say :nixweiss:  I'll report back if I encounter any problems.
So, How is that filter doing? Let us know!

Well, I just found this page and fell in to it hook line and sinker! Has anyone experienced any issues with these filters? How much cooler are you running with this style filter? Any noticeable debris buildup on the filter media? Does the increased horsepower stay consistent throughout usage? Is it farther to Chicago, or by bus? DOH! It has been about a month since the last post and my curiosity is peaking!!! Another quick question, my 2007 Dyna Screaming Eagle, anyone know which is the best slip-on performance/sounding muffler in a shotgun style? Thanks all!

EJS....all I'm doing is repeating what a guy told me who was instrumental in the development of Mobil I VTWIN 20W50, so everybody can take it for what it's worth.

Just a month late here, but I had one M1 rep tell me that the M1 VT was merely repackaged M1 15-50 to satisfy people who were convinced they had to have a motorcycle oil in their motorcycle. This was in Daytona 2004.

I guess that justifies the almost $5 more a quart too.  I don't understand how M1 can sell their synthetic oil for around $5 a qt. and then turn around and sell the V-Twin for almost $10 qt.  I smell a rip-off here... :-*

But "repackaging" costs money!  :o
