OK, so I'm building another 110 now, right! It's becoming an annual ritual, and I'm not thrilled with that. My last attempt was to make it bulletproof. It wasn't. This time I'm using an off the shelf S&S gear drive cam. I was planning to use the
S&S 625G this time. Today we discussed my "mellow" riding style and Vern asked me what I thought about using the
S&S 585G and detuning this beast a lil. I immediately told him No Way! There's a
CR 595G in there now. But I've been thinking about it. A lower lift, less aggressive cam will definitely be easier on the entire valve train.
If ya don't know, it's 110", Cyclerama worked and ported SE110 heads decked for 9.8:1 w/Cometic 0.030's, Axtell barrels and CP Forged Pistons, S&S 4-3/8' Forged Crank and Timken bearing conversion, 62mm HPI TB and D&D FatCat w/quiet Performance Muffler. So my questions to the real guru's here with S&S cam experience, and hopefully on a 110 are......
How much difference will I see between the two S&S cams? How much am I giving up compared to the CR 595? Can I be happy with it, knowing I left
__HP & TQ on the table? Not specs, I have them. Real world, seat of the pants comparisons! Being it's my 3rd motor in 3 years, I wanna make sure I get this right! Vern's OK with the 625, and power wise, it matches up nicely w/the engine design I have. He also knows I'm very hard on it and just wanted to throw it out there. The top end will last longer with it for sure. My RevTech 110 Evo only has an Andrews EV72 w/560 lift in it. I haven't finished building that one either, so I haven't checked it out yet. I know higher output engines will never last like Stage I engines. But those are my 2 cam choices and I didn't want to start a discussion on cam selection for 110's, just try to compare these 3 cams. So......
Will the S&S 585G do the job for me? Wadda ya'll think?
Thanks for your opinions gang!

Hoist!
