Never owned a HD in the past... Couldn't tell you the difference between models, much less knowing what a CVO was. Had a Goldwing, put 100K miles on it in 5 years, sold it and bought a BMW 1150GS, so I could get off the beaten path a little. Then I got orders to Japan, and left the BMW back in the States. Made the mistake of stopping and chatting with the Military Sales guy one day... and he gave me the 09 HD brochure... when I hit the CVO page, it was game over. My GW was yellow also, and when I saw the Yellow SERG, I fell in love. I tried to forget her... but found myself sneaking peeks at the brochure... lusting after her.
So I told myself that if I made E9, it would be my gift to myself. I made it, and the rest was history.
I have talked a lot of dookie about HDs in the past, engaging in good natured ribbing with my HD riding pals... but the truth is, I just like to ride... and it doesn't matter what name is on the side of the bike. And I'll also admit, while I always said I'd "never buy a bike I couldn't ride anywhere" I did feel the pull of having a cool looking ride that stood out from the average bike. And the amazing thing was, after buying the SERG sight unseen (other than pictures, and lots of reading on this board), I am completely satisfied. Well, I was, until all you folks have convinced me of all the improvements I "need' to make to this bike to make it perfect... lol
Resale value has never been a factor in my bike purchase decisions... I bought the damn thing to ride it, not as an investment. If I ever get tired of it, and decide to move on to something else (I am keeping my GS, so I can enjoy dual sport riding also), then I'll pass it along for a good deal to someone who will enjoy it, and move on to my next "shiny object." But I got a feeling this bike ain't going anywhere any time soon... becuase after 3 days and 1200 miles riding her... I'm even more in love!
