Let's say a larger displacement V-Rod motor... gaining the displacement with stroke... square (bore/stroke equal) or slightly undersquare (more stroke than bore)... was built, the personality of the engine would be a whole lot different. Might give up the pure rpm = performance thing for a more usable package. Instead of 105 hp/79 tq maybe 100hp/110tq? You'd like that, wouldn't ya?
I was hoping for numbers north of that as I'm running 102/115 now with my 103, and like they say, you can never have enough performance. But yes, I think if they could get into the low 100's for HP, and in the 120's for TQ, with over 90 to 100 TQ from 2,000 on, I think that would be a heck of a package. I'd even hope for better numbers, but...
I'd hope they'd be able to get in the mid-40's for MPG, and by virtue of a balanced motor, something that doesn't shake itself to death or force you to invest in case of locktite to avoid losing pieces. That said, I'm not talking about the sanitized feel of a GW, but with the same V-Twin, it should have a little thump with a tough sounding exhaust.
And as Dr. D stated, I'm envisioning this special edition in the same vision as say the Black CUSE of last year. Kind of a stand alone that will not sacrifice the traditional models, and see what happens. If you tie the new Rev II motor with the top of the line, that will be perceived as the next gen pinnacle and with a successful intro, encourage larger and larger numbers of folks to long for the trickle down.
Like I said, if I could shove something like this into an existing CVO Ultra, I'd jump at the opportunity to put it through it's paces.
