Copout,

Did you really do all the mods? Without posting dyno numbers before and after? How totally inconsiderate of you!!!!! >:( Wheres the love Dude? :'(

Help a brother out will ya? I am trying to make the mod decision on the same bike. Had the fear of god put into me by my dealer re:warranty. Is it loud? Talk to me. I'm dying here. Curiousity is killing me.

There is no full systems avail yet for the 2007's and I was stuck with the only option, slip on's. One of the techs at my local HD dealer pulled me to the side and offered to sell me a (slightly used but in excellent condition) pair of screamin eagle II touring slip on's with a performance baffle for $100.00 (how could I pass that up). I found that there is a SERT map avail for the 110 engine and I bought the tuner. In addition, I bought a ness big sucker for around $110.00 which gave a nice and loud free flowing setup for around $600.00 . I had no idea the SE slipons would be as loud as they are but I am not complaining. The sound is extremely deep compared to my last TC88 with Rineharts. The power increase is obvious but I am still going to have it tuned for some real world numbers and piece of mind. I am in heaven now, I could not stand the stock exhaust, it was making me very grumpy

Thanks Copout!

I was just messin with ya. But I would really love to see some real world numbers. When do you think you will get a chance to dyno her? Did your dealer say anything about warranty issues? I have heard that the dealers are required to documnet any mods an owner does even if he brings the bike back to stock for any issues. So if you puke a motor and you put all the stock stuff back on before bringing it inot your dealer a regionla rep would have a record (supplied by said dealer) of your mods.

Any truth to this Big Brother Bullchit?

There's a real easy way around that, if it's true.

I understand your theory. But if this is the case what happens the first time you bring bike in for warranty work. You either have to bring it back to stock, or if this is true the dealer could/will document all mods while repairing warranty work that isn't even related to mods. :o

If you have the SERT it is already documented in the ECM.

My dealer is cool about the mod's and will bend over backwards for me when it comes to getting something warrantied. They did advise me to go with the SERT because (according to them) the MOCO hates the Powercommander and other brand ECM controllers. I am waiting to put a full system on the bike before paying for a dyno or I may just pick up an Wego II from DTT http://www.daytona-twintec.com/ when the dual O2 sensor unit is available in October. I may also upgrade the cam in the bike which should really bump up the HP and Torque and them get it dynoed. I am still unsure about what I want to do. I am just happy my bike sounds like a real Harley now !!! [smiley=banana.gif]

Thought you travelled across state lines to buy the bike from other than your local dealer?  They still going to bend over backwards?

I hate my bike. It is ugly, slow, uncomfortable, and expensive. Especially now that I upgraded the exhaust, installed a high flow ac and SERT. I wish I bought a Goldwing and a nice matching helmet !!       [smiley=vrolijk_19.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_19.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_19.gif]

I must agree with altugo when I saw these on the HD website I was not impressed. But after seeing an O/B in person I have a change of mind! These bikes look awesome! I'm interested in seeing the R/B. I can't see parting with my banana but I did dream about seeing the R/B parked next to my banana in my garage! ;D What a beautiful site! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Only problem is I can't afford both. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Maybe if I sold my house......Naaa! Time to go for a scoot to clear my mind! Congrats to all you 07 owners, sweet bikes. See ya, God Bless!

My local dealer told me that a SERT will definitely void your warranty! He said there is no way around it. He said that when a dealer installs a SERT, that information is downloaded in the dealers computer and later sent automatically to the MOCO at the end of everyday and that the MOCO will "blackflag" your VIN# and if you have any warranty issues the MOCO won't honor the warranty. He said it is just like putting a trailer hitch on your bike. You are screwed!! He said it will void your entire warranty- even on issues like the radio!!! I asked him what if I buy the SERT and install it myself. He said the SERT is permanently stored in the ECM even if you "uninstall" it later and HD will find this out if you ever have a  major engine warranty issue. I told my local dealer about a dealer 120 miles away that is doing Stage I A/C, V&H slip ons, and SERT on most of their '07's on the showroom floor, and that dealer said they would do the same on my bike and that it wouldn't affect my warranty. He said, well that dealer may stand behind the bikes, but the MOCO won't and if you break down miles from home other dealers won't be able to honor the warranty because your VIN has been black flaged w/ the MOCO.

My local dealer says he has the same factory service rep as the other dealer 120 miles away, and the factory rep specificly told them that any  mods to the exhaust or ECM will void the warranty, and that HD is serious about this!!! My local dealers advice to me ("as a friend" --I've bought 4 bikes from him, and referred several other friends and relatives to him who have bought bikes from him) is to leave my '07 SE Ultra "stock" until the warranty expires or at least until HD develops a street legal "remap" flash for the '07's that won't void the warranty. I asked him if the remap is in the works. He said the MOCO isn't talking.

I asked him about a PC and he said that will void the warranty. The only way around it would be to remove the PC, aftermarket mufflers, StageI A/C and return the bike to stock before having any warranty issues looked at. Pretty hard to do if you break down on the road miles from home.

I told him it is ridiculous that HD could void your entire warranty due to a SERT, and he shrugged and said, "I am just telling you as a friend so you don't find this out later when and if you have a warranty issue and try to blame us." He said his dealership is just as pissed as me about all of this but he is just following what the MOCO has laid down as the law!!!

I was going to take my bike to the dealer 120 miles away, ( they have worked  on my other bikes before), and have the Stage I A/C, SERT, and V&H slip-ons done after my break-in, but my local dealer (whom I bought the bike from) has the $hit scared out of me because I don't want to have to fight w/ the MOCO over any warranty issues.

All that voiding the warranty BS is just that, BS!!. A manufacture cannot void a warranty on a vehicle sold in the US because the owner installed aftermarket parts. Look up the Magnuson Moss Warranty act.

Here is an excerp from the act:

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in part: No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name... (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

Not trying to be a smart ass but would this "friend of yours" put his words in writing?
So many times I have "heard" something wasn't covered under warranty when actually it is.
If what your "friend" says is true then ask for it in writing! Unless it's B/S like hd-dude said then if indeed he's a true friend then he will put it in ink!

The dealer putting anything in writing does not mean squat! They are not the MOCO. They do not provide the warranty the MOCO does. There is no way that the MOCO would put that in writing as it is in violation of Federal law.
