No codes when I took it into dealer.  Volt meter was bouncing between 11-15.  Only issue when it went in.

While they had it they did the recall, rerouted the regulator wires to make sure they couldn't rub.  They say and the paper work says charging system tests good.

Everything seemed fine when I left.  It was about 10 miles or so volt meter started bouncing again.  The code (triangle) came up about about 1/2 way home.  Then the knock.  Then knock went away.

Bike has been shut off.  When I turn it on there is no code, then in about a minute I get the code.

Yes it could be related to the dealer doing the recall, could have bumped or moved other wires causing one to be loose.  It could also be an electrical component failing such as cam position sensor, cam actuator or ACR or wiring to one of those.

I'll worry  about it after Christmas when I get back from Orange Beach AL.

Hit the Louisiana Lagniappe for dinner, you’ll thank me later!

Rode over to Honebaked Ham to pick up our ham for tomorrow's dinner.  Currently 76F here in Tucson!  Sweet revenge for the extreme temps in the summer.    :huepfenlol2:

Nice 3 hour ride today with the local club here .

74 degrees, sunny, light breeze, many twisted roads.

Think we had 40-45 bikes in the group.

Took the 2019 CVO, but should have taken the softail, it works much better on those roads!

New Years day, I led my club on our Annual Frosty toes lunch ride.  The high was 43 degrees and it was 58 miles round trip.  It's always good to start the New Year with a ride.

New Year's Day I rode with local HOG chapter on the annual Polar Bear Ride downtown to the Mississippi River harbor to watch crazy folks ski in the cold water.  It's all for a good cause - raising money for the Dream Factory to make an ill child's wish come true.  About 60 miles and just above 40 degrees but all in all a great start for what I hope will be a fantastic year for all.  Happy New Year!

Took a little ride to local casino yesterday.
Nice when we left the valley but cold and windy at 4000 ft! About 40 I think.

Pete’s RG ST is running nice, seems to have plenty of power, we ran them through the gears up to illegal speeds and no problems with handling and suspension. Got everything dialed in I guess.

He was generous picking up the tab for breakfast! Probably had to do with winning a little cash! LOL

Rode the CVO Road Glide over to the dealer for the 20K service and have the regulator wiring recall done.  Ended up getting a new front tire.  The 56 mile ride home I had a couple issues.  The volt meter was still jumping between 11 and 15 volts.  About 1/2 way home the warning light (triangle with ! in it) cam on.  Then it wen t off and came back a few minutes later.  About 15 miles from home it developed a horrendous knock under load, but sounded fine no load.  Had to ride it like that a couple miles until I could find a place to pull of.  Well it quit before  I could find a place.

Got home with out it doing it again.  Pulled the Code.  ECM code P165500, Cam position sensor or position actuator issue, either the component issue or communication with the ECM

Rode the CVO to the dealer yesterday to have the volt meter issue above and the ECM code above looked at.  Also to have battery load tested as bike doesn't want to start when cold out.  There is a new softawre update for Skyline OS as of 1-27-2025.  Well bike would not start with out a jump yesterday morning.  I had to jump it.

Dealer updated the software.  ECM Code P165500 is for Front cylinder ACR open.  ACR tested good.  Battery load tested good.  Dealer road test, all good.

I start bike to leave dealer, check engine light is on.  Service writer comes out and I show him that, bike shut of, checks codes, same code.  New ACR on order.  Restart bike and CarPlay doesn't load, on of the issues the update was to fix.  Shut bike off, wait two minutes start bike and it loads.  On ride home stop for gas.  CarPlay will not load.  turn bike off, wait turn back on and it loads so I start bike.  Voltage gauge issue is fixed.

This morning, go down to garage bike turns over once or twice, will not start. >:( >:(  Software update supposedly addressed this and battery is good according to their load test.

Weather was perfect for the 112 mile round trip ride. But nothing was fixed. Not really the dealers fault, they can only do what the load tester tells them.  Same with acr, tester said good.  But damn

Well….that just sucks!

I feel your pain (sort of)…my front exhaust heat shield had developed a little crack a few years ago and finally broke all the way through! LOL

Maybe you should have kept the 2019? Mine has 99K miles on the big motor and still sounds strong.
I’ve been slowly doing a 100K maintenance on the bike and NOT buying a new one.
If the engine blows I’ll rebuild exactly the same. I’m liking the well mannered power!
Like you, I have a backup bike when I do maintenance on the cvo.

Wow, Dave - that’s really disturbing!

I had similar “repeated engine code” issues last fall, and they (so-far) seem to have dissipated.
But, here along the Rockies it’s not really riding weather - I put the cover on last week.
May be upper 40’s or near 50 tomorrow - but as-of yesterday there’s still a lot of wet and/or snow/ice in the shaded area of the roads, so I’m not sure I want to take it out and then have to spend a couple hours on clean-up.

Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

I rode the bike over to the dealership on Monday to visit.  Had to jump bike to get started.  Almost wouldn't start  when going to leave 2 hours later.  It was a nice sunny day, 71 degrees.

Took the bike out for a ride Tuesday also, nice 103 miles in 69 degree sunny weather.  Had to jump the bike to get it started.  Didn't,t shut it off until home.

I hope the front cylinder ACR comes in soon.  Service believes that's why the hard start.  When I jump it, its really just putting the 12 amp battery charger on it for help.  It easily fires up then.

I hope the front cylinder ACR comes in soon.

I suspect I may have issues with my ACR on my 110 twin cam. How deep is this to access to replace or  possibly clean?

Submitted an order today for Fullsac 2" power cores and tech mats. Hope this sounds better. This is the 3rd attempt at mufflers. The bike came with Vance & Hines 2" trumpet type mufflers that were very annoying.

That's a good looking 09 CVO there.  That was my first CVO, and first touring bike.

The 09 Grey Ghost is still a favorite of mine.
