unless you want to leave it totally stock just need to realize you'll be in for a possible fight concerning anything in the drivetrain that you can't get back to stock before the ESP adjuster sees it.
So reinstalling the SE pipes back on before I take it in for anything major is one plan.
Does anyone really do that?
How many people buy the ESP and have dealer install exhaust at delivery? I'm betting TONS.
In all fairness you have to kind of see their point. It's engineered to handle xHP and xTQ and if you want to exceed those numbers, well it's hardly fair to expect them to foot the bill if the bike doesn't stand up to it.
understand your point but, I'm not screwign with it, I'm having a certified HD shop install factory approved 117 kit and tune it to proper fuel air mix.
Only thing that's not HD will be the header and slip ons but they are also dealer installed.
You'd think if I had you jack up my AC compressor as a licensed dealer you woudl likely tell me it is fine or I need heavy bearings, upgraded sludge pump etc to make it stand up.
That's what I'd expect from HD shops. They are tuning it on a Dyno, will know exactly what it's putting out and if it's within spec for all the guts of the motor/tranny etc.
Grey area I get it and it looks like it's been covered a million times I'm sure.
So bottom line to all you guys that put pipes on and had a proper tune, do you buy the extended warranty or skip it as you figure it will be worthless anyway?
